Seahawks CB Richard Sherman was one of the most noticable snubs from the NFC Pro Bowl roster. (US Presswire)

The Seahawks have the No. 2 defense (304.5 ypg) in the NFC and the No. 1 scoring defense (15.5 ppg) in the NFL, but apparently that wasn't enough to convince Pro Bowl voters to send all 11 starters to Hawaii -- or even two of them.

S Earl Thomas was the only Seahawks defensive player named to the NFC Pro Bowl team on Wednesday and he wasn't even named as a starter. Thomas will serve as a backup to San Francisco's Dashon Goldson. The 49ers defense landed six players on the defensive roster, including five starters.

A noticeable absence from the NFC team is CB Richard Sherman. Sherman was left off the roster despite ranking second in the NFL in interceptions (7) and being tied for seventh among all defensive backs in the league with three forced fumbles.

Players aren't eligible for the Pro Bowl if they test positive for performance enhancing drugs, however, Sherman was eligible for the roster because his case is currently under appeal.

Although the defense didn't land any starters on the roster, the offense and special teams combined for three. LT Russell Okung and C Max Unger will start on the offensive line, and KR/PR Leon Washington will be the NFC's return specialist. RB Marshawn Lynch, who currently ranks second in the NFL to Adrian Peterson in rushing yards (1,490), was named to the team as a backup.

Seattle does have three first alternates on the roster, including Sherman, DE Chris Clemons and FB Michael Robinson. If the NFC's starting cornerback, defensive end or fullback can't play, Sherman, Clemons or Robinson would get the nod.

If the Seahawks were to make it to the Super Bowl this year, no one on the team would play in the Pro Bowl, which is scheduled for Jan. 27, 2013 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Wednesday injury report -- Out for Wednesday's practice: DE Red Bryant (foot), OL Breno Giacomini (elbow), LB Leroy Hill (hamstring), RB Marshawn Lynch (back), TE Anthony McCoy (back), WR Sidney Rice (knee) and CB Walter Thurmond (hamstring).

Trufant returns: CB Marcus Trufant returned to practice on Wednesday after missing almost a month due to a hamstring injury. Trufant was injured in practice on Nov. 29 and hasn't played since the Seahawks' Nov. 25 loss to Miami.
