The Hawks waived Williams on Monday, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports. Williams was on a two-way contract with Atlanta last season, but he appeared in just two NBA games, averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 rebounds in 2.0 minutes. Despite his lack of NBA experience, the UNLV product figures to get at least another two-way contract from a different team, as he was a solid contributor for the College Park Skyhawks during the 2022-23 G League campaign.... Hawks' Donovan Williams: Scores 25 in season finale
Williams notched 25 points (10-19 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and two steals in 41 minutes during Saturday's 122-120 loss to Birmingham. Williams ended the G League regular season on a high note and finished with averages of 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals across 50 appearances. He was sent to the NBA club following the contest, along with Tyrese Martin, and figures to operate as an emergency depth option during the final weeks of the NBA regular season, per Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network.... Hawks' Donovan Williams: Pops for 22 points
Williams recorded 22 points (8-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 131-105 win over the G League Ignite. Williams struggled with his three-point shot but still scored at least 20 points for the first time since Feb. 3. Across 44 appearances, he's averaging 14.6 points while shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from deep.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Donovan Williams: Sent back to College Park
Atlanta transferred Williams to the G League's College Park Skyhawks on Tuesday, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Since signing a two-way deal with Atlanta on Jan. 14, Williams has yet to make his NBA debut. He should continue to see extended minutes whenever he's available for the G League club.... See More ... Hawks' Donovan Williams: Gets call-up
Atlanta recalled Williams from the G League's College Park Skyhawks on Monday, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Williams received his first chance to practice under newly hired head coach Quin Snyder, but the change on the bench is unlikely to improve the two-way rookie's outlook at the NBA level. He'll likely head back to the G League in the near future and should continue to see most of his playing time with College Park over the rest of the season.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Donovan Williams: Back in double figures
Williams totaled 13 points (5-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and one assist in 33 minutes during Monday's 130-104 loss to Delaware. After a nine-game double-digit scoring stretch, Williams failed to reach that plateau in back-to-back contests entering Monday. However, despite poor shooting, he once again finished in double figures and is now averaging 15.1 points on 49.1 percent shooting across 37 G League appearances this season.... See More ... Hawks' Donovan Williams: Team-high 29 points in win
Williams posted 29 points (11-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in 40 minutes during Friday's 114-96 win over Maine. Williams was efficient from the field en route to a team-high 29 points, falling one short of his season-high mark. He also displayed his two-way potential by recording multiple tallies in each defensive category for the second time this season.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Donovan Williams: Struggles with shot in return
Williams (knee) tallied 11 points (5-14 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 33 minutes during Sunday's 123-107 win over Motor City. Williams didn't play in Friday's loss to Motor City due to a left knee injury but returned to action during Sunday's rematch. He struggled to find any rhythm offensively but was able to somewhat salvage his night with solid peripheral production.... See More ... See Less -
Hawks' Donovan Williams: Out with left knee injury
Williams didn't play in Friday's loss to Motor City due to a left knee injury. Williams had scored in double figures in each of his first four games with College Park, but it appears he recently picked up an injury. It's unclear when the 21-year-old will return to the hardwood, but Trent Forrest, who was recently assigned to the G League, figures to handle point-guard duties until Williams is able to return....
