  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Scores 14 points off bench

Dowtin amassed 14 points (6-12 FG, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 20 minutes during Sunday's 130-125 win over Dallas. With Quentin Grimes (illness) back in action, Dowtin returned to a bench role but stayed productive. Dowtin has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight games, averaging 13.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.9 steals in 21.9 minutes during that stretch. However, Dowtin's role would decrease dramatically if Kyle Lowry (hip), Paul George (groin), Kelly Oubre (knee), Lonnie Walker (concussion) and/or Tyrese Maxey (back) return to action soon.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Impresses in first career start

Dowtin chipped in 24 points (11-20 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals over 40 minutes during Friday's 112-100 loss to Indiana. Dowtin made the first start of his NBA career Friday and made the most of the opportunity, leading the Sixers in scoring and also leaving his mark across the board with an excellent all-around showing. Dowtin should have upside as long as the 76ers remain depleted, but it's uncertain if he'll stay in a starting role in the coming games. He's likely to experience a sizable regression in his minutes once Tyrese Maxey (back) is ready to return, which might happen at some point in the coming days.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: First start of NBA career Friday

Dowtin is in the 76ers' starting lineup against the Pacers. Dowtin has seen his minutes increase over the last week due to the absences of Paul George (groin) and Tyrese Maxey. With Kelly Oubre (ankle), Justin Edwards (ankle) and Quentin Grimes (illness) also out Friday, Dowtin will make the first start of his NBA career alongside Jared Butler in the frontcourt. Dowtin is coming off a career-best 20-point performance Wednesday against the Raptors.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Career-high 20 points Wednesday

Dowtin logged 20 points (9-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three assists, two rebounds and two steals over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 118-105 win over the Raptors. Even with Kelly Oubre (ankle) returning from a one-game absence, Dowtin still saw plenty of minutes off the bench after Lonnie Walker left in the first quarter of Sunday's game due to a head injury. Dowtin took advantage of the opportunity and turned in a career-best scoring performance. Dowtin has played at least 27 minutes in each of his last two outings, and the 27-year-old has assumed a bigger role for the Sixers due to the absences of Paul George (groin) and Tyrese Maxey (back). The two-way player is eligible to be active for just eight of the 76ers' remaining 17 games, so he'll likely have some unexpected inactive statuses in the contests to come, even if George, Maxey and others remain sidelined.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Drops 27 points in G League loss

Dowtin chipped in 27 points (11-22 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block across 40 minutes during Friday's 118-107 G League loss to the Greensboro Swarm. Dowtin joined the Blue Coats for the first time since Feb. 4, finishing as the club's second-leading scorer in an efficient performance. The two-way combo guard has received double-digit minutes in four consecutive contests for the parent club, during which he has averaged 7.8 points, 2.3 assists and 1.5 rebounds across 15.5 minutes per contest.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Scores career-high 18 points

Dowtin totaled 18 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 118-102 loss to the Thunder. The 76ers were supremely shorthanded Tuesday, paving the way for Dowtin to not only move into the rotation, but to also see his most minutes of the season. He made the most of the extra playing time, turning in a career-best scoring performance while supplementing his line with decent peripheral numbers. The potential returns of Paul George (ankle), Tyrese Maxey (hand) and Caleb Martin (groin) as soon as Wednesday against the Knicks could result in Dowtin's minutes taking a significant hit.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Used sparingly in loss

Dowtin posted zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in four minutes during Wednesday's 114-106 loss to Cleveland. Dowtin suited up for the fourth straight game, albeit for just four minutes. Having played at least 20 minutes in each of the two previous games, Dowtin had been serving as a consistent piece in the rotation. However, given he has played fewer than five minutes in each of the other four games in which he has suited up, it seems the coaching staff is going to call on him only as a last resort.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Lands two-way deal

Dowtin agreed to a two-way contract with the 76ers on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Dowtin spent the 2023-24 campaign with Philadelphia, but the 76ers declined his $2.2 million team option for the 2024-25 season in late June. He remained with the team for Summer League play, averaging 17.1 points and 5.7 assists. He'll compete for a role with the organization during camp this fall.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Contract converted to standard deal

The 76ers converted Dowtin's two-way contract to a standard deal Thursday. Dowtin has been playing for the G League's Delaware Blue Coats this year and signed a two-way deal with the team in early March. He impressed for the G League club and will be rewarded with a standard contract late in the regular season.

  • 76ers' Jeff Dowtin: Leads team in assists Wednesday

Dowtin amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), six assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block over 24 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 115-109 loss to the Grizzlies. Playing his second NBA game of the season, Dowtin was pushed into a much larger role than expected with Tyrese Maxey (concussion), Kyle Lowry (rest) and De'Anthony Melton (back) all missing from the Sixers' backcourt. The 26-year-old journeyman responded by leading the team in assists and tying for the team lead in steals while chipping in a little offense of his own. Lowry could be back in the lineup as soon as Friday against the Pelicans, but Dowtin's performance might have been good enough for him to hang onto a spot in the regular rotation in the short term.

  • Jeff Dowtin: Let go by Toronto

Dowin was waived by the Raptors on Friday, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet reports. This isn't a big surprise, as Dowtin's non-guaranteed deal was due to be partially guaranteed on Saturday. The 76ers hold Dowtin's G League rights, so there's a good chance he ends up in Philadelphia.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Remains out Tuesday

Dowtin (ankle) didn't play in Tuesday's 106-102 preseason win over the Bulls. It's unclear if Dowtin's absence is due to still recovery from ankle surgery or a removal from Toronto's rotation. Either way, his next chance to suit up is Friday's preseason matchup with Washington.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Doesn't play Sunday

Dowtin didn't play in Sunday's 112-99 preseason win over the Kings. Dowtin missed Summer League play while recovering from ankle surgery that he underwent following the 2022-23 season. He's been participating in practices during training camp, so it's unclear whether his absence from Sunday's matchup was due to his offseason ankle issue. The 26-year-old is on a non-guaranteed deal ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and will have to compete for a roster spot over the next few weeks.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Won't play in Summer League

Dowtin (ankle) won't play in any of Toronto's Summer League contests, Vivek Jacob of the Raptors' official site reports. Dowtin operated under a two-way deal with the Raptors last year and made just 25 NBA appearances, averaging 2.4 points in 10.4 minutes per game. He underwent ankle surgery following the 2022-23 campaign and will remain sidelined throughout Summer League action, but there's been no indication the undrafted guard out of Rhode Island (2020) is in danger of missing the start of next season. With Fred VanVleet no longer in the mix, Dowtin could compete for a sizable role with the Raptors in 2023-24.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Inactive against Celtics

Dowtin (not injury related) won't play in Wednesday's game versus Boston, Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca reports. Dowtin has run out of NBA games on his two-way deal. The Raptors have until Thursday afternoon to decide if they want to convert his contract to a standard deal for the rest of the season. If Toronto opts not to, Dowtin's 2022-23 campaign will be over.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Gets light run Wednesday

Dowtin (ankle) played six minutes off the bench Wednesday in the Raptors' 118-114 loss to the Pacers, finishing with two points (1-1 FG) and no other statistics. Dowtin, one of Toronto's two two-way players, missed the G League Raptors 905's most recent game Tuesday against the College Park Skyhawks due to a listed right ankle injury, but he was able to play through the issue for the shorthanded NBA squad Wednesday. Toronto ruled out six players due to injury ahead of the contest, enabling Dowtin to handle a light role off the bench behind backcourt starters Fred VanVleet and Will Barton. So long as Toronto gets one of Scottie Barnes (wrist) or Gary Trent (elbow) back for Friday's game against the Pistons, Dowtin could find himself back outside of head coach Nick Nurse's rotation.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: DNP with ankle injury

Dowtin did not play during Tuesday's 111-104 win over College Park because of an ankle injury. An injury to Dowtin's right ankle caused him to sit out the 905's latest win against College Park. It is unclear when he can return, but his next opportunity to play is against Greensboro on Friday.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: G League excellence continues

Dowtin logged 24 points (10-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists, three rebounds, three blocks and three steals across 32 minutes during the 905's 127-108 win against the G League Ignite on Monday. The 905 won their first three games of March. Dowtin averaged 21.3 points and 5.7 assists across the three-game span. Though those rates will worsen at least a little once Dalano Banton (thumb) returns from his injury, Dowtin's excellence is expected to continue until further notice.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Logs 21 points, nine assists

Dowtin logged 21 points (9-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine assists and five rebounds across 33 minutes during the 905's 135-125 win against Fort Wayne on Thursday. While part of the 905's roster, Dowtin is expected to be a significant scorer and their primary distributor. Currently, he is averaging 15.9 points and 6.0 assists across his 11 G League games this season.

  • Raptors' Jeff Dowtin: Great line for 905

Dowtin logged 12 points (5-11 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, four rebounds and three steals across 25 minutes during the 905's 122-119 win Monday versus Capital City. After they used Dowtin for two minutes on Jan. 6 against New York, the Toronto Raptors sent him to their G League team. Dowtin's versatile line helped the 905 log a second win across their last five games. If the guard continues being part of the 905, he will be valued but is expected to have a tough time starting in place of either Dalano Banton or Saben Lee.
