Leonard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 1 against the Mavericks, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports. The Clippers announced Thursday that Leonard received an injection in his left knee, and there's "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's matchup, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. While Leonard returned to practice Monday, he hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said Thursday that he isn't sure whether Leonard will need to participate in full-contact work before he's cleared to return to game action but said that the inflammation needs to continue to reduce. Lawrence said that he's hopeful the issue is trending in the right direction and that Leonard will play but also indicated that the 32-year-old's status remains up in the air.... See More ... Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Receives injection in knee
Leonard (knee) recently received an injection to aid in his recovery, and there is "cautious optimism" that he'll be ready for Sunday's Game 1 against Dallas, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Thursday. Leonard was unavailable for the Clippers' final eight games of the regular season due to right knee inflammation. He returned to practice Monday but hasn't yet been cleared for 5-on-5 drills. The Clippers will likely wait to see how his knee responds to his recent treatment before determining his status for the start of postseason play Sunday, but even if he isn't cleared for Game 1, it wouldn't be surprising to see him return sometime during the Clippers' first-round series.... Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Goes for 23 points Sunday
Leonard racked up 23 points (10-19 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 37 minutes during Sunday's 130-118 win over the Hornets. Leonard took a backseat in the scoring column since both Paul George and Ivica Zubac delivered impressive performances, but the veteran forward still had a strong showing. Leonard's remarkable consistency on a game-to-game basis has been noticeable in recent weeks, as he has scored at least 20 points in all but one of his last 10 appearances while shooting 53.8 percent from the field in that span.... Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Goes for 29 points Friday
Leonard closed Friday's 100-97 victory over the Magic with 29 points (12-21 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and four steals across 38 minutes. Leonard was decisive for the Clippers on Friday, draining a key bucket in the final seconds of the game and leading the team in scoring. It was the second consecutive game in which Leonard turned it up down the stretch, as he also did it in the 108-107 win over the 76ers on Wednesday. Leonard has scored at least 20 points in all but one of his last nine appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Comes up big late against Sixers
Leonard registered 17 points (7-19 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals over 36 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 victory over the 76ers. After making only one bucket in the first half, Leonard came to life late in the fourth quarter and completed two three-point plays in the final minute before blocking Kelly Oubre's attempt at a game-winning layup. It was still Leonard's lowest scoring output since Mar. 12, and over the last eight games, the 32-year-old forward has averaged 23.4 points, 5.4 boards, 2.6 assists, 1.4 threes, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks while shooting 53.4 percent from the floor.... Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Ties for team lead with 26 points
Leonard produced 26 points (11-18 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 38 minutes during Monday's 133-116 loss to the Pacers. Leonard and fellow superstar Paul George both posted 26 points in the loss, with Leonard going 11-for-18 from the field to George's 12-for-18 mark. The healthy and efficient scoring efforts weren't enough to prevent the reeling Clippers from dropping their fifth straight home game, however, as no other starter scored more than 11 for Los Angeles. Team success aside, Leonard has been thriving of late, posting 20-plus points in seven straight contests and averaging 24.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 triples, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks over 33.7 minutes during that span.... Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Goes for 20 points in loss
Leonard registered 20 points (7-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Sunday's 121-107 loss to the 76ers. Leonard has been his dominant self over the last few days, and the star forward is silently going on a hot streak, scoring at least 20 points in each of his last six appearances despite the fact the Clippers have only gone 3-3 in that stretch. Leonard is averaging 22.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game since the All-Star break.... See More ... See Less -
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Solid all-around effort in win
Leonard accumulated 22 points (9-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one block over 29 minutes during Friday's 125-117 win over the Trail Blazers. Paul George led the way for the Clippers on Friday, but Leonard delivered a strong all-around performance and was able to make a significant impact as well. Leonard has now scored 22 or more points in five games in a row, and while he's often playing as Los Angeles' second-best scorer behind George, he's still putting up a respectable 24.8 points per game over that five-game stretch.... Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Posts big third quarter in win
Leonard amassed 24 points (9-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, two assists and four steals over 28 minutes during Wednesday's 116-103 victory over Portland. Leonard did a majority of his damage in the third period, when he dropped 17 points to help Los Angeles build an insurmountable lead. The star forward also excelled defensively throughout the contest, as his four thefts marked his highest total since March 4. Leonard's average of 23.8 points per game is identical to the mark he posted last season, and he's been similarly up to his high standards with averages of 6.0 boards, 3.6 dimes, 2.1 triples, 1.7 steals and shooting percentages of 52.6 percent from the field and 88.8 percent from the stripe through 62 contests....
