When the Milwaukee Bucks were sold to investors Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry, it immediately meant the future of the front office was up in the air. The safest bet seems to be that general manager John Hammond and assistant general manager David Morway will stay at least another year, but that is not guaranteed, according to Grantland's Zach Lowe:

The futures of Hammond and Morway are uncertain after the recent sale of the team to finance executives Wesley Edens and Marc Lasry, and the new owners have at least held initial discussions about possible replacements, per sources around the league. But the growing consensus is that the current front office will have another year to make this lottery pick and hope the nucleus it’s put in place begins to perform.

But this is one of two jobs all the lurking GM candidates are watching — a group that includes all the names that are always mentioned, plus wild cards like Bryan Colangelo, who would be open to returning to a GM position, per several league sources.

The Bucks went 15-67 this season, the worst record in the league, and this was after they acquired veterans Caron Butler, O.J. Mayo, Gary Neal, Zaza Pachulia and Carlos Delfino last offseason with the goal of pushing for a playoff seed. While this would seem like an unmitigated disaster, it's put Milwaukee in great position for Tuesday's draft lottery. A top-two pick would be ideal, but regardless of what happens the Bucks will get another building block.

In Giannis Antetokounmpo, John Henson and Brandon Knight and Larry Sanders, Milwaukee has the makings of a competitive team down the road. The Bucks were far from that this season, but the young players plus the incoming prospect make this a compelling situation for any potential new general manager. They also could make a case for Hammond and Morway to stick around awhile if they show significant improvement.
