Yankees' Greg Weissert: Back in big leagues
Weissert was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
The 28-year-old was sent to Triple-A on Aug. 20 but will rejoin the major-league club with Ian Hamilton (groin) placed on the injured list. Weissert has made seven appearances for the Yankees this season and has allowed four earned runs with a 9:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings.

Weissert appeared in 12 games for the Yankees last season, surrendering seven earned runs across 11.1 innings out of the bullpen. He's gotten off to a much better start this year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (1.69 ERA, 0.39 WHIP, 5.1 IP) and will look to provide New York's bullpen with some reinforcements. Weissert was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday and was summoned from the bullpen with the Yankees up big in the seventh inning. His first outing as a major-leaguer didn't go well, as he threw only five of 15 pitches for strikes and hit two batters in addition to issuing two free passes while recording only one out. Nerves likely came into play, but Weissert has had some control issues in the minors this season, registering a 3.7 BB/9 and hitting five batters over 46 innings. He was able to overcome that to post a 1.76 ERA and 0.89 WHIP, however.
