Schanuel went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, scored twice and drew a walk during Friday's 6-0 win over Cleveland. Schanuel's third-inning shot off Tanner Bibee put the Angels up 1-0, and singles in the fifth and eighth innings would help the 22-year-old secure his third multi-hit game in his last four contests. He has now hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games while slashing .388/.423/.531 with two homers and six RBI in that stretch.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Back on bench Tuesday
Schanuel is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Tampa Bay. Schanuel returned to the lineup Monday after missing a game with a testicular contusion, but he'll now head back to the bench for Tuesday's contest. Miguel Sano will occupy first base and bat cleanup for the Angels. Schanuel went 0-for-5 Monday and is now just 4-for-42 on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Returns to lineup
Schanuel (groin) will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game in Tampa Bay. Schanuel exited Saturday's game and didn't play Sunday because of a testicular contusion, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The rookie first baseman is sporting a woeful .108/.292/.189 batting line through his first 12 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Absent from lineup again
Schanuel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Schanuel has now sat out two of the last three games, and both times he's been on the bench, the Angels have faced right-handed starting pitchers. The 22-year-old probably isn't in danger of being demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake just yet, but his 2-for-31 start at the plate is beginning to cost him playing time. Brandon Drury will cover first base in Schanuel's stead.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sitting against right-hander
Schanuel is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays. It marks the first time this season Schanuel hasn't been in the lineup versus a right-hander and just the second time overall. Brandon Drury is handling first base, with Luis Rengifo covering second.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sits against lefty
Schanuel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. With southpaw A.J. Puk on the bump for Miami, the lefty-hitting Schanuel will head to the bench in the series finale. Miguel Sano will fill in at first base for Schanuel, who had started in each of the Halos' first five games while reaching base at a .400 clip and hitting a home run.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: In lineup Saturday
Schanuel (back) is starting in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Athletics, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Schanuel has been out of action since Monday due to back tightness, but the issue appears to have subsided ahead of Saturday's contest. Schanuel is 10-for-41 this spring with a homer and four RBI, and he should be ready to start at first base on Opening Day now that his back issues are seemingly behind him.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Could return Saturday
Schanuel (back) could play in Saturday's Cactus League game against the A's, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Schanuel was a late scratch Monday due to back tightness but is closing in on his return to game action. The 22-year-old should be ready for Opening Day as long as he can return to the field within the next handful of days.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Going through baseball activities
Schanuel (back) will perform some baseball activities Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. Schanuel has been unavailable for a few days because of back tightness but is ready to ease back into things. It does not look to be an injury that could threaten his availability for Opening Day as long as he continues to progress. Schanuel is expected to bat second for the Angels this season.... Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Nursing minor injury
Schanuel (back) was evaluated further after being scratched from Monday's exhibition against the Brewers, and he was told by trainers that it's not serious, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The Angels can breathe a sigh of relief as Schanuel appears to have avoided a significant injury. The team figures to closely monitor the 22-year-old over the next few days to ensure he's ready to go for Opening Day.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Dealing with back tightness
Schanuel was scratched from the Angels' Cactus League lineup Monday against the Brewers because of back tightness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Schanuel had been slated to play first base against the Brewers but will be replaced by Miguel Sano. Consider the 22-year-old day-to-day for the time being.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Returns to lineup Friday
Schanuel (knee) is back in the lineup Friday against the Athletics. Schanuel will start at first base and bat leadoff versus left-hander Ken Waldichuk after missing two straight games because of knee tightness. The 21-year-old has slashed .284/.407/.343 since being promoted to the majors in mid-August, reaching base in all 27 games that he's appeared in so far.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Held out Tuesday
Schanuel (knee) isn't in the Angels' lineup Tuesday against Texas, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. Knee tightness caused Schanuel to be removed from Monday's game during the seventh inning, and the Angels will give him an extra day to heal Tuesday. Brandon Drury will shift to first base in Schanuel's absence, allowing Eduardo Escobar to serve as the Halos' designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Takes seat Sunday
Schanuel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Schanuel has reached base at least once in each of his first 26 big-league games but will take a seat Sunday versus Minnesota righty Joe Ryan. Brandon Drury will shift to first base while David Fletcher starts at the keystone.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Hits first homer
Schanuel went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Tigers. Schanuel got the Angels on the board with a third-inning solo shot, his first career big-league homer. It took him 21 games to check off that milestone, and he had just one extra-base hit, a double, prior to his long ball Saturday. Considering the 21-year-old was fast-tracked to the majors after just 22 minor-league games, in which he hit .370 with a 1.004 OPS, it's a little surprising he hasn't added much power yet, though it's not his best tool. In the majors, he has a .296/.418/.346 slash line with four RBI, 14 runs scored and a 15:12 BB:K over 98 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Resting Friday
Schanuel is not in Friday's lineup against the Tigers, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Schanuel will hit the bench after starting three consecutive games. He recently recovered from a shoulder injury, so the team may take a cautious approach and give him extra time off across the final few weeks of the regular season. The Angels shuffled the lineup in Schanuel's absence, with the end result being Kyren Paris hitting leadoff and playing center field.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Will lead off Monday
Schanuel (shoulder) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Mariners, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports. A sore shoulder prevented Schanuel from seeing any action Saturday or Sunday, but he has put that behind him and will lead off like he usually does Monday night.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Held out Saturday
Schanuel (shoulder) isn't in the Angels' lineup Saturday against the Guardians. After exiting Friday's game with tightness in his shoulder, Schanuel will remain on the bench for Saturday's contest. He's still considered day-to-day, so there's a chance he'll be able to return to the lineup within a day or two. In the meantime, Mike Moustakas will start at first base while Eduardo Escobar covers third.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Exits with tight shoulder blade
Schanuel was pulled from Friday's loss to the Guardians with minor tightness in his shoulder blade, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. Schanuel landed hard on his shoulder as he tried to make a play at first base in the top of the eighth inning and was replaced defensively by Trey Cabbage before the top of the ninth. Schanuel finished the night 0-for-3 with a walk while extending his on-base streak to 17 games to begin his career, a franchise record. Consider him day-to-day for the rest of the weekend series versus Cleveland.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Enters franchise history book
Schanuel went 1-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to Baltimore, tying a franchise record by reaching base in his 15th straight game to begin his career, per the Associated Press. Schanuel's third-inning single marked the 15th straight contest in which he's gotten on base since being called up to the majors Aug. 18. That ties a franchise record that Darin Erstad established in 1996. Schanuel is slashing a solid .286/.429/.304 with a 17.6 percent walk rate through 70 plate appearances, though he's yet to go deep or steal a base. Of his 16 hits thus far, 15 have been singles....
