Cubs' Jack Neely: Sent to Triple-A
The Cubs optioned Neely to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.
Neely allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three batters over his two innings of Cactus League action, but the Cubs will need to see more from him in the minors before adding him to their bullpen. The 24-year-old posted a 3.26 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 19.1 innings in Triple-A last year.

Cubs' Jack Neely: Sent back to Triple-A
The Cubs optioned Neely to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Neely will give up his spot in the Chicago bullpen to right-hander Jorge Lopez (groin), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Through six appearances at the big-league level this season, Neely has given up six earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings.

Neely allowed six earned runs over just four innings during his first stint in the big leagues, but he'll now return to the majors to serve as extra bullpen depth while Justin Steele (elbow) heads to the injured list.

Cubs' Jack Neely: Added to roster
The Cubs selected Neely's contract from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Acquired from the Yankees in the Mark Leiter trade, Neely has collected a 2.42 ERA and 76:17 K:BB over 48.1 innings between the Double- and Triple-A levels in 2024. The 24-year-old will likely be used in low-leverage spots initially, but he could work his way into a more prominent role as part of an unsettled Cubs bullpen. Neely will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.

The Cubs acquired Neely and infielder Benjamin Cowles (undisclosed) from the Yankees on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Mark Leiter, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Neely, 24, has split this season between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 2.81 ERA and 63:16 K:BB over 41.2 frames. He could emerge as a high-leverage reliever for the Cubs once he reaches the majors.

Yankees' Jack Neely: Advances to Triple-A
The Yankees promoted Neely from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
Neely had performed as one of the Eastern League's top relievers since arriving in Somerset last August. Over his 33 appearances with Somerset covering 48.2 innings, the 24-year-old righty posted a 2.59 ERA and struck out 77 batters.
