Facing a favorable home matchup against the lowly Rockies, Warren capitalized on the opportunity with an excellent start and his most strikeouts since June 20 versus the Reds. The right-hander has been very effective for both the Yankees and fantasy managers alike lately, giving up two earned runs or fewer in five consecutive outings. He'll carry a season 4.05 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 141:49 K:BB over 142.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance in Minnesota.

Yankees' Will Warren: Back in rotation Wednesday
Warren is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies at Yankee Stadium, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
During Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Padres, Warren made his second relief appearance of the season, firing 2.1 scoreless frames of relief behind starter Max Fried. The Yankees will separate Warren and Fried during the upcoming week, with Warren getting the nod Wednesday and Fried taking the hill Thursday. Warren will likely be ticketed for the bullpen during the playoffs, but he could pick up a few more starts before the regular season wraps up.

Yankees' Will Warren: Could piggyback with Fried versus SD
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that Warren could be used in a piggyback role behind starter Max Fried on Saturday in San Diego.
Warren is coming off one of his best starts of the season, having tossed seven innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts against the Red Sox. However, he is slated for a bullpen role in the postseason and the Yankees might be making that transition now. Warren (9-6) earned the win Sunday over the Red Sox, allowing a run on six hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out seven.
Warren was sharp Sunday, as he logged just his second quality start in his last six outings, while the Yankees provided more than enough run support in a 16-1 victory. The win is just the second for Warren since May 31. Overall, the right-hander sports a 4.23 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 133:46 K:BB across 134 innings this season. Warren threw just 50 of his 92 pitches for strikes Wednesday, so the lack of efficiency prevented him from working deeper into the outing. The 27-year-old right-hander continues to struggle since the start of June, posting a 5.77 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in his last 12 appearances (57.2 innings). Even though Carlos Rodon recently returned to New York's rotation, Max Fried's (elbow) stay on the injured list should buy Warren at least one more turn through the rotation next week against Houston.
