Guardians' Parker Messick: Racks up seven Ks in win
Messick (5-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Angels, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out seven.
A fifth-inning cutter to Zach Neto wound up soaring over the left-field wall for a two-run homer, but it was the only real mistake Messick made en route to his fourth quality start of the season. The southpaw has allowed more than three runs in an outing only once so far in 2026, posting a 2.35 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 58:14 K:BB through 53.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Detroit.

Guardians' Parker Messick: Fans seven in win
Messick (4-1) earned the win Friday against Minnesota, giving up one earned run on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.
Messick was cruising on the mound for the majority of his start, but things took a quick turn in the sixth when he allowed five consecutive batters to record a hit. Ryan Jeffers' RBI single was the lone blemish on Messick's line, though there could have been another if Petey Halpin hadn't cut down Jeffers at the plate from center field. Messick will take an impressive 2.30 ERA and 0.98 WHIP into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come against the Angels on Wednesday.

Guardians' Parker Messick: Surrenders four runs in first loss
Messick (3-1) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on six hits and no walks over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out six.
Messick was done in by the long ball, as the 25-year-old served up three homers in his first loss of 2026. Home runs hadn't been an issue for the southpaw through his first six starts, as he had allowed just one homer prior to Sunday's outing. While the start in Sacramento wasn't his best, the second-year hurler's overall numbers remain strong, as he owns a 2.40 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with a 44:10 K:BB across 41.1 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column his next time out, tentatively scheduled for Friday against the Twins.

Guardians' Parker Messick: Continues to deal Monday
Messick took a no-decision Monday against the Rays, allowing one run on three hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out nine.
Messick continues to provide the Guardians with plenty of length, working at least five innings in his sixth straight start to begin the year. Additionally, the nine punchouts matched a season high, and the southpaw has given up more than two runs on just one occasion to this point. Messick carries a 1.73 ERA, the second-best mark in the American League behind only Jose Soriano among qualifiers, 0.88 WHIP and 38:10 K:BB across 36.1 frames ahead of a scheduled matchup with the Athletics this weekend.

Guardians' Parker Messick: Late stumble in no-decision
Messick came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Astros, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out four.
The 25-year-old southpaw blanked Houston for four innings before running out of steam in the fifth, getting lifted after 85 pitches (54 strikes). The result was Messick's worst start of 2026 so far, as he hadn't allowed more than four runs or struck out fewer than five batters in any of his first four trips to the mound. He'll take a 1.76 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB through 30.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Rays.

Guardians' Parker Messick: Comes close to no-hitter
Messick (3-0) earned the win Thursday against the Orioles, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in eight-plus innings. He struck out nine.
Messick pitched better than his already strong final line indicates. The left-hander carried a no-hit bid into the ninth inning, but a single by Leody Taveras broke it up to lead off the frame. Messick then gave up another single before being pulled, and both runners came around to score. The left-hander was magnificent nonetheless -- he racked up 18 whiffs en route to matching a career high in punchouts during the longest outing of his career. Wednesday's appearance added to his brilliant start to the season, which has seen Messick produce a 1.05 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB across 25.2 frames.

Messick pounded the zone, throwing 61 of 84 pitches for strikes while limiting Atlanta to just one extra-base hit. The southpaw has been extremely impressive to open the season, yielding just one earned run through 17.2 innings while logging two quality starts. He'll carry a 0.51 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB into a home matchup against the Orioles next week.
