Will Vest battled mechanical issues last spring and didn't break camp with the Tigers, but was recalled in late-April to fill a multi-inning relief role. The 28-year-old righty seemingly fixed what he was struggling with because he posted a 2.98 ERA (3.11 xERA), 1.10 WHIP and 56:13 K:BB ratio over 48.1 innings. A leg strain sidelined the Texas native for a month-and-a-half during the summer, but he returned in mid-August and closed out the season strong. He posted a 1.32 ERA, 0.51 WHIP and 20:1 K:BB over the final month (13.2 innings) and finished the campaign with two saves and 11 holds. Vest's flexibility to work as an opener, multi-inning reliever or setup man should afford him a spot in the Tigers' 2024 bullpen, especially after recording above-average strikeout and walk rates last year.
