Marinaccio owns a 4.08 ERA in 46.1 major-league innings this season, with a 27.6 percent strikeout rate more or less canceling out an inflated 12.6 percent walk rate. • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Making spring debut Thursday

Marinaccio (shin) will make his Grapefruit League debut Thursday against the Red Sox, Erik Boland of Newsday reports. The Yankees are bringing along Marinaccio slowly this spring, as Boland notes, as he's coming off a stress reaction in his right shin that caused him to miss the end of the 2022 season as well as the postseason. The right-hander was one of the team's best relievers when healthy with a 2.05 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 56 strikeouts over 44 innings of work. Assuming good health, he'll pitch in the middle innings for New York again in 2023.

  • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Faces live hitters

Marinaccio (shin) faced Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo on Monday during his second live batting practice session of spring training, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports. The right-hander was sidelined late in the 2022 season due to a stress reaction in his right shin and wasn't able to pitch during the Yankees' postseason run, but his ability to face hitters on two occasions this early in spring training suggests he's back to full health or close to it. When available in 2022, Marinaccio was effective, as he finished his rookie campaign with a 2.05 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 56 strikeouts across 44 innings. He'll likely settle back into a middle-relief or setup role for the Yankees to begin the 2023 season.

He's being eased into things this spring, but it sounds as though he should be fine for Opening Day, barring any setbacks. The right-hander posted a 2.05 ERA over 40 relief appearances for the Yankees in 2022.

Marinaccio (lower leg) is expected to return if the Yankees advance to the ALCS, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Marinaccio has pitched a bullpen session and is now travelling to Tampa Bay to face live batting practice. The reliever posted an impressive 2.05 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 56 punchouts over 44 innings in 40 appearances in the regular season and could provide a boost to New York's bullpen if the team is able to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

  • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Lands on injured list

Marinaccio was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a stress reaction in his right shin. Marinaccio has had a strong rookie season, posting a 2.05 ERA and a 30.9 percent strikeout rate in 44 innings of work. The injury means he'll end the season with those numbers and will remain unavailable for the ALDS, but it's possible he returns for the ALCS should the Yankees get that far.

  • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Departs with shin soreness

Marinaccio was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles due to shin soreness, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Marinaccio didn't allow any baserunners while recording three outings between the seventh and eighth innings, but he was dealing with a shin injury that prompted his removal with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Manager Aaron Boone didn't sound too concerned about the issue after the game, so Marinaccio should be considered day-to-day for now.

  • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Sent down Saturday

Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. Marinaccio allowed just one earned run and struck out 26 batters over his last 22.2 innings, but he will be the pitcher who cedes his roster spot to Frankie Montas, who will be added to the active roster to start Sunday's series finale versus the Cardinals. Given his success, Marinaccio will likely be the top option the next time the Yankees need to bring up a reliever from the minors.

Marinaccio (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Sunday. Marinaccio will return to the Yankees' bullpen after missing three weeks while nursing right shoulder inflammation. • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Could start throwing by weekend

Marinaccio (shoulder) is currently shut down from throwing but could begin tossing lightly this weekend, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reports. Marinaccio was placed on the injured list Saturday, so it's not surprising that he's currently not throwing. The fact that he could resume tossing a baseball this weekend suggests that he may not be facing an extended absence. Yankees manager Aaron Boone seemed to suggest that scenario Sunday, stating, "Ronnie's obviously a younger guy and going through the grind of the major-league season for the first time. Instead of just kind of pushing through this right now and maybe have it be a lingering issue, it's best to give him a few days and try to keep him as strong and fresh as possible."

It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the mound or whether the issue will force him to spend time on the IL.

  • Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Claims first big-league victory

Marinaccio (1-0) earned the win over the Cubs on Friday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he allowed one walk and struck out one batter. Runs were tough to come by for both teams in the contest -- so much so that neither the Yankees nor the Cubs were able to score through three extra frames despite starting off each of those innings with a designated runner. Marinaccio was responsible for fending off Chicago in the top of the 13th, and he did so successfully by retiring three straight batters after issuing a walk to begin the inning. The rookie right-hander was then credited with his first win in the majors when the Yankees walked off with a victory in the bottom of the frame. Marinaccio also has one hold this season, but he has been used primarily in low-leverage situations.
