  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Sent packing to minors

The Orioles optioned Rogers to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday. Baltimore obviously saw something in Rogers to the point that it surrendered a surprisingly hefty trade package to acquire him at the deadline, but the club has been unable to fix him. In fact, Rogers has been much worse for the Orioles than he had been with the Marlins this season, collecting a 7.11 ERA and 12:10 K:BB over 19 innings covering four starts since joining his new team. With Rogers out of the picture, Cole Irvin and Cade Povich will continue getting starts for the Orioles, at least until Zach Eflin (shoulder) and/or Grayson Rodriguez (lat) return from the injured list.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Can't complete five innings

Rogers didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out five. Rogers allowed three hits in the first inning -- including a two-run homer to J.D. Martinez -- but settled in afterward. Still, he wasn't able to finish out the fifth inning, being pulled after 91 pitches. Depth has been an issue for the left-hander lately, as he hasn't completed six innings since June 27. In four starts with the Orioles, Rogers is 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA and a 12:10 K:BB across 19 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Astros this weekend.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Solid in second start for O's

Rogers came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two. The southpaw left the mound after 94 pitches (59 strikes) in line for a loss, but the Baltimore offense got rolling in the late innings. Rogers showed some jitters in his Orioles' debut Aug. 1 following a trade-deadline deal from the Marlins, but he was back in his usual form Wednesday -- he's allowed two earned runs or less in six of seven outings since the beginning of July, although he has zero quality starts to show for it as he hasn't lasted longer than 5.2 innings in any of those appearances. Rogers will look for his first win with his new club early next week in a home start against a familiar foe from the NL East in the Nationals.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Labors in Baltimore debut

Rogers (2-10) took the loss against Cleveland on Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings. Rogers was acquired in a trade with the Marlins on Tuesday to bolster the Orioles' rotation, but he didn't fare well in the first start with his new club. The left-hander gave up a pair of runs in the first inning and three more in the third, and he was pulled after issuing a one-out walk in the fifth. The five earned runs were the second-most Rogers has given up in a game this season, and Thursday marked the first time he's given up more than three runs in a start since June 2. Rogers will look to make a better impression the next time he takes the mound, which is tentatively slated to be in Toronto next week.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Making team debut Thursday

Rogers was added to the Orioles' 26-man active roster and will start Thursday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland. He'll be making his Orioles debut on five days' rest after he took the hill for the Marlins for the final time last Friday before he was shipped to Baltimore. Rogers will slot in as a back-end starter for the Orioles after accruing unremarkable ratios (4.53 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 85:46 in 105.1 innings) over his 21 starts with the Marlins this season. A change of scenery as well as feedback from a new coaching staff could help him reverse his downward-trending strikeout rate to some degree, and at the very least, he'll benefit from being supported by a far better offense in Baltimore than the one that backed him in Miami. Rogers earned just two wins while the Marlins averaged 2.7 runs in his 21 starts.

  • Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Acquired by Baltimore

The Orioles acquired Rogers from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for infielder Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Stowers, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Rogers entered June with a 5.65 ERA on the season but has been much better since then, posting a 3.48 ERA over his last 10 starts. He has an underwhelming 41:21 K:BB over 54.1 innings during the latter stretch, however, and his velocity has been down all season. Baltimore paid a steep price to acquire Rogers, but it must feel it can unlock more from the left-hander, who is likely to slot in as the club's No. 5 starter. He'll likely make his Orioles debut during the club's four-game series in Cleveland that begins Thursday.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Strikes out five in no-decision

Rogers came away with a no-decision in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Mets. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks and five strikeouts over 4.2 innings. Rogers allowed just two runners to reach the first time through the Mets' order but wasn't as effective the second time, as he ran into jams in the fourth and fifth innings before being pulled. Sunday marked just the second time in his last nine starts that Rogers didn't pitch at least five innings. The 26-year-old has a streak of eight straight outings in which he has allowed fewer than three runs and has at least five strikeouts in five of those eight appearances.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Yields two runs

Rogers allowed two runs on two hits and three walks over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during the win over the Reds. Rogers worked through five shutout frames before coughing up a two-run homer to Elly De La Cruz in the sixth. It was Rogers' second straight start allowing two runs but failing to complete the sixth inning. He's 0-3 over his last 10 starts and hasn't earned a win since May 15. Despite that, he's settled into a groove recently; Rogers has produced a 3.29 ERA over 38.1 frames in his last seven outings. He enters the All-Star break with a 4.72 ERA and a 79:44 K:BB through 19 starts.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Decent in no-decision

Rogers allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Tuesday. Rogers put in a decent effort, but he exited the game with the Marlins down 2-1. They were able to erase that deficit but couldn't find the lead in the late innings. Rogers has gone six starts without allowing more than three runs, though he's walked multiple batters in four of those outings. The southpaw is at a 4.82 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 75:41 K:BB through 89.2 innings over 18 starts. Rogers remains in search of his second win of the year, and he's projected to make his next start on the road at hitter-friendly Cincinnati.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Early exit in ninth loss

Rogers (1-9) took the loss Wednesday as the Marlins were downed 7-2 by the Red Sox, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out six. The southpaw didn't give up much hard contact as all the hits off him were singles, but Rogers was wildly inefficient and needed 84 pitches (52 strikes) to record just nine outs. It's the first time since May 21 he failed to last at least five innings, and over his last seven starts Rogers has a 3.49 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 29:16 K:BB through 39.2 frames. He'll try to give Miami more length in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Houston.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Picks up another quality start

Rogers allowed three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four batters over six innings in a no-decision against Philadelphia on Thursday. Rogers threw just 57 of 103 pitches for strikes and tied a season high with four free passes, but he still managed to record his third consecutive quality start. The southpaw doesn't have any wins in those outings, but he's posted a 3.26 ERA with a 12:5 K:BB over 19.1 innings during that stretch. Rogers' ERA on the season still sits at a much less alluring 4.87, though it's at 3.56 across five starts in June.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Tosses quality start Friday

Rogers came away with a no-decision in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Mariners, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out five. The southpaw produced his second straight quality start on 90 pitches (58 strikes), but Rogers remains without a win since May 15. He's at least giving himself a better chance of collecting one -- he's lasted at least six innings in three of four starts in June with a 3.33 ERA and 1.03 WHIP, after failing to complete six frames in any of his first 11 outings of the season. Rogers will try to get back in the win column in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Kansas City.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Completes seven innings in loss

Rogers (1-8) took the loss to the Nationals on Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts over seven innings. Rogers allowed runs on a sacrifice fly by Joey Meneses in the first inning and a solo homer run by Lane Thomas in the third. Rogers logged his longest outing of the season but was outdueled by rookie DJ Herz, who posted six scoreless innings with 13 strikeouts. Rogers had walked four batters in back-to-back contests, so his command Saturday was certainly a positive. He now owns a 5.09 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 55:31 K:BB on the season and tentatively lines up to face the Mariners next week.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Walk issues persist

Rogers didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Cleveland, allowing one run on two hits and four walks with five strikeouts across five innings. The lone run charged against Rogers came on a solo homer by Gabriel Arias in the second inning. Although Rogers yielded his fewest hits in a start this season, he had to navigate through plenty of traffic after walking four batters. The southpaw has issued multiple walks in eight straight starts and owns a 5.37 ERA and a 52:31 K:BB over 62.0 innings on the year. He's tentatively schedule to take the mound during a three-game series in Washington next weekend.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Solid after slow start

Rogers (1-7) took the loss Sunday against Texas, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three. After a three-start hiatus from the loss column, Rogers fell to his seventh defeat of the season -- tied for the third most in baseball -- Sunday. The southpaw yielded four hits and three runs in the first inning before settling in and keeping the Rangers off the scoreboard until a sixth-inning homer by Adolis Garcia. Rogers owns a 5.68 ERA with a 47:27 K:BB across 57.0 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled for a Saturday start against the Guardians.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Chased early again

Rogers (0-6) yielded five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings Friday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Phillies. Rogers gave up two runs in the first three frames before the Phillies piled on three more in the fourth inning. He's been blasted for 12 earned runs in just 5.2 innings over his last two outings, inflating his ERA from 4.31 to 6.57 in the process. Rogers has yet to complete six innings in any start this year and owns a lackluster 31:17 K:BB through 37 frames. His next outing is currently projected to come in Detroit next week.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Rocked for eight runs Saturday

Rogers (0-5) took the loss Saturday in Oakland, allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks over just 2.1 innings. Rogers gave up a couple runs in the second inning and then the wheels really came off in the third, as he was tagged for six runs during what turned out to be a 10-run inning for the Athletics. It was a disastrous performance in what should have been a favorable matchup for the left-hander. Rogers will carry a 6.15 ERA into his next start, which is expected to be against the Phillies at home.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Hit with third loss

Rogers (0-3) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, surrendering five runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out four batters. Facing an Atlanta lineup that sports a staggering .824 OPS, Rogers only gave up two unearned runs through the first five innings but was promptly pulled after allowing a sac fly and a two-run homer during the sixth. The 26-year-old southpaw holds a 4.10 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through his first five starts and will still be in search of his first win of the year during his next scheduled outing versus the Nationals on Monday.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Moving up to Wednesday

Rogers will move up a day to start Wednesday versus the Giants, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Rogers last started Friday, so he will be pitching on regular rest. He's filling in for A.J. Puk, who is battling an illness.

  • Marlins' Trevor Rogers: Comes up short Friday

Rogers (0-2) took the loss Friday as the Marlins were routed 8-1 by Atlanta, giving up two runs on eight hits and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out five. The 26-year-old got out-dueled by fellow southpaw Max Fried, and Rogers' line could have been a lot worse -- he exited the game with runners on first and second and nobody out in the sixth inning, but George Soriano worked out of the jam. Rogers tossed 56 of 80 pitches for strikes, and he'll take a 4.80 ERA and 14:8 K:BB through 15 innings into his next start, which is scheduled for next week at home against the Giants.
