• Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Remains hot during doubleheader

  Rodriguez went a combined 4-for-9 with an RBI single over the two games of Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies. Although there were no extra-base hits involved, Rodriguez continued to be an on-base machine Sunday, one day after rapping out four singles and recording two steals in a shutout victory over Colorado. The talented outfielder has now hit safely in six straight games and has five consecutive multi-hit efforts, raising his average 90 points to .276 in the process. Rodriguez has definitely had some luck shine on him during that stretch, however, as he sports an astronomical .650 BABIP after coming into the sample with a .289 figure dating back to the beginning of the season.

Rodriguez singled in his second at-bat before stealing second and later coming around to score on a Cal Raleigh single. The star outfielder then added another three singles in the contest, two of which drove home a run, while also swiping another bag. It marked Rodriguez's first four-hit performance of the season as well as his first game with two steals. He's now recorded multiple hits in three straight games.

  Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Reds. Rodriguez recorded his second multi-hit game of the season and was able to steal a bag for the second time in as many games. He struck out three times and now has 11 strikeouts over his last 23 plate appearances in what's been an extremely frustrating first couple of weeks of the season for the 23-year-old. He's now slashing .206/.260/.221 with just one extra-base hit, five RBI, six runs, four steals and a 4:25 BB:K in 73 plate appearances.

  Rodriguez, who went 0-for-2 in his Cactus League debut Saturday against the Athletics, noted after the game that he's made slight changes to his stance and swing since last season, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Rodriguez logged only three innings in his first spring appearance, and he won't be back on the field until Tuesday following a team off day Monday. However, the talented outfielder already began displaying some of the subtle modifications he's made since the end of last season, namely reducing a slight crouch he previously went into after a pitcher released the ball and developing what he feels is a more fluid swing that's reminiscent of the one he flashed in his early minor-league days. "I feel like I'm pretty honest into how I feel, into how I do things," Rodriguez said. "And once I feel that something's not working, I feel like I'm always trying to get it better."

According to Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM, Rodriguez will take some swings in the batting cage and possibly on the back fields of camp Wednesday as he continues to ramp back up following a bout with left hand inflammation. Rodriguez was also able to play catch in the outfield Tuesday, so wearing a glove on the injured hand apparently isn't too bothersome for the 23-year-old.

  Rodriguez (hand) played catch in the outfield with Ichiro Suzuki on Tuesday and is feeling "much, much better" according to manager Scott Servais, MLB.com reports. Rodriguez also did some batting cage work and echoed his manager's sentiments, saying in passing that he was feeling "all good" from the minor inflammation on the back of his left hand. Servais added that he felt Rodriguez, who engaged in intense training this offseason, was still on target for a potential Cactus League debut by the weekend, adding he had trust in the team's medical staff to give the green light to the star outfielder at the appropriate time.
