Ramirez was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis by the Pirates on Sunday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Ramirez is taking the place of Rob Zastryzny after Zastryzny was placed on the injured list with elbow discomfort before Sunday's game against the Cardinals. In 71 career games, the right-hander has forged a 3.89 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP over 85.2 innings of work.

Pirates' Yohan Ramirez: Optioned to Triple-A
Ramirez was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Ramirez pitched 27 innings for Pittsburgh last season, posting a 3.67 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. He's struggled this spring, however, allowing 10 earned runs through 5.1 frames, so the Pirates will give him a chance to settle in with Triple-A Indianapolis. If he's able to bring his numbers back down, he could rejoin the Pirates' bullpen during the season.

Ramirez was acquired by the Pirates from the Guardians on Friday in exchange for cash considerations, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports. The right-hander was subsequently optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The 27-year-old was designated for assignment by Cleveland last weekend, and Pittsburgh opted to send some cash to acquire him rather than risk a waiver claim. He was removed from the 40-man roster to open up a spot for outfielder Oscar Mercado, whom the Guardians claimed off waivers from the Phillies. A day after blowing a two-run lead, Ramirez was thrust into a high-leverage scenario and delivered, albeit with some suspense attached. The right-hander issued back-to-back free passes to Michael Taylor and Ryan O'Hearn after recording a strikeout of Bobby Witt to open the inning, but he bounced back with strikeouts of Whit Merrifield and Nicky Lopez to escape the jam. Ramirez has produced scoreless efforts in four of his six appearances while giving up multiple earned runs in the other two, making him a bit of a feast-or-famine fantasy option early in the season.

Ramirez was charged with a blown save in Saturday's win over the Royals, giving up three earned runs on two hits and a hit batsman over one-third of an inning while recording one strikeout.
Ramirez unraveled Saturday after three straight scoreless efforts, allowing the Royals to get in position to eventually pull ahead after he entered the seventh inning with the benefit of a 6-4 lead. The right-hander impressively allowed just a pair of hits during that span as well and looks tuned up for what could be a boost in volume during his third big-league season. Ramirez has been a relatively nimble bullpen asset during his first pair of big-league stints, recording five saves in addition to adeptly filling a middle/later-inning relief role. Daniel Kramer of MLB.com notes the 26-year-old also showed a knack for getting out of jams last season, posting a 77.2 percent LOB rate across his 27.2 innings.
