Llovera (elbow) is set to pitch in Monday's Cactus League game versus the Angels, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Llovera is in Giants camp on a non-roster invitation after signing a minor-league contract in November. He was injured in mid-July and remained out for the rest of the 2022 season with a Grade 3 right flexor strain. The right-hander appears set to ramp up in line with the rest of the Giants' relief candidates, though he'll likely need an impressive spring to work his way back onto the 40-man roster.... Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Re-ups with Giants
Llovera (elbow) re-signed with the Giants on a minor-league deal Nov. 19. One day after being non-tendered by the Giants, Llovera quickly re-upped with the organization on a new deal. Though he won't reclaim a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster, his minor-league pact will presumably allow him to compete for a spot in the big club's Opening Day bullpen during spring training. Before finishing the season on the injured list with a Grade 2 right flexor strain, Llovera posted a 4.41 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 16.1 innings with San Francisco.... See More ... See Less -
Mauricio Llovera: Non-tendered by Giants
The Giants declined to tender Llovera (elbow) a contract for 2023. Llovera's contract was selected in late April and he was up and down between levels over the subsequent few months, pitching to a 4.41 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over 16.1 innings during his time with the big club. A Grade 2 right flexor strain ended his season and it may ultimately end his time in the Giants organization.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Transferred to 60-day IL
Llovera (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Llovera sustained a Grade 2 right flexor strain last week and will be unavailable for at least two months due to the injury. It's not yet known whether the Giants expect him to return for the final few weeks of the regular season, but the team signed Trevor Rosenthal (hamstring) to a one-year contract Thursday.... Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Placed on injured list
Llovera was placed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 2 right flexor strain Saturday. Llovera exited Friday's win over the Brewers after throwing 1.2 relief innings, and he'll be forced to miss at least two weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain. A timetable for the right-hander's return isn't yet clear, but he isn't eligible to be activated until at least the end of July.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Departs with flexor strain
Llovera was removed from Friday's win over the Brewers due to a flexor strain, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Llovera entered Friday's matchup in the top of the sixth inning and allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two in 1.2 innings. However, he was removed after throwing 31 pitches. He'll undergo further testing to determine the extent of his injury, but Jakob Junis (hamstring) is a candidate to return Saturday if the Giants need a bulk reliever.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Departs Friday's contest
Llovera was removed from Friday's game against the Brewers with an unspecified injury, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Llovera delivered 1.2 scoreless innings before leaving with the training staff during the seventh inning. The right-hander should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.... Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Called up again by Giants
Llovera was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Llovera has already gone up-and-down several times this season, and the Giants decided to bring up back once more. As he did before, he will provide depth in San Francisco's bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Returns to minors
The Giants optioned Llovera to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Llovera will lose his spot on the 26-man active roster after the Giants reinstated Alex Cobb (neck) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Pirates. During his week-long stay in the big leagues, Llovera tossed a scoreless inning in each of his relief appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Back in big leagues
Llovera was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Monday's game against Kansas City. Llovera has appeared in nine games for the Giants in 2022, putting together a 5.87 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with a 9:2 K:BB across 7.2 frames. Heliot Ramos was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Optioned to Triple-A
Llovera was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. After being called up May 16, Llovera appeared in five games, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. He will now return to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday and wait for another shot to prove himself in the big-leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Returns to big leagues
Llovera was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. The Giants will add a fresh arm to the bullpen in Llovera, who hasn't appeared for San Francisco in just over 10 days. Through four appearances in 2022, he's allowed one run on three hits and struck out five over four innings of relief work.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Optioned to Triple-A
Llovera was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. He will likely be back up in short order after giving up one run on three hits and zero walks while striking out five over four innings -- all in the past calendar week. Sean Hjelle will take a spot in the big-league bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Clean inning as opener
Llovera struck out one in a perfect inning and did not factor in the decision in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. Llovera was tabbed as the opener for the contest, and he handled the assignment well. The 26-year-old has yet to work more than an inning in any of his four appearances this season, so he shouldn't be expected to be in the mix for wins if he opens more games later in the year. He has a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 5:0 K:BB across four innings.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Starting bullpen game
Llovera will start Thursday's game against the Cardinals, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Llovera has allowed one run over three innings since being promoted from Triple-A Sacramento on April 29, and he'll receive his first major-league start Thursday. He's likely to cover an inning or two with the Giants going with a bullpen game in the series opener.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Promoted to majors
Llovera's contract was selected from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Friday's game against the Nationals, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports. The Giants have multiple relievers on the COVID-19 injured list, so Llovera will provide reinforcement for the bullpen. He's struck out 14 and walked two over 10.2 scoreless innings through six appearances at Triple-A this season.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Lands with Giants
Llovera signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Friday. Llovera spent most of the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2021 and logged a 3.46 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 52 innings across 32 appearances (four starts). He'll now attempt to carve out a role with the Giants, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him serve as a non-roster invitee this spring.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Mauricio Llovera: Back with big club
Llovera was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Llovera will rejoin the Philadelphia bullpen after elbow tendinitis forced Connor Brogdon to the injured list Tuesday. The 25-year-old righty has made two previous big-league appearances this season, allowing one run on two hits and three walks across three innings.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Mauricio Llovera: Dropped to minors
Llovera was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. Llovera had been with the team since Tuesday, allowing one run in two innings of work Thursday against Atlanta in his lone appearance. He'll make way for Alec Bohm to return from the COVID-19 injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Mauricio Llovera: Recalled by Philadelphia
Llovera was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. The right-hander was sent to Triple-A over the weekend but will make a quick return to the Phillies with relievers JD Hammer and Bailey Falter having been placed on the COVID-19 injured list. Llovera pitched a scoreless frame in his lone appearance of the season and should fill a low-leverage role out of the bullpen.... See More ... See Less
