Baldonado was released by the Nationals on Tuesday and is signing with a team in Japan, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. Baldonado had posted a 3.03 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB through 29.2 innings of relief this season at Triple-A Rochester. The 30-year-old left-hander last appeared in a major-league game in 2021, when he struggled to an 8.44 ERA across 10.2 frames with Washington. Nationals' Alberto Baldonado: Misses out on roster bid
The Nationals reassigned Baldonado to minor-league camp Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Baldonado was among the 10 players sent to minor-league camp during Washington's first wave of spring cuts. The 29-year-old southpaw made 14 relief appearances for the Nationals last season, logging an 8.44 ERA and 1.59 WHIP across 10.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Alberto Baldonado: Dropped from 40-man roster
The Nationals outrighted Baldonado to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, Maria Torres of The Athletic reports. Baldonado was one of three pitchers cast off the 40-man roster Wednesday as the rebuilding Nationals look to open up space heading into the offseason. The 28-year-old lefty reliever reached the big leagues for the first time in 2020, appearing in 14 games while giving up 10 earned runs over 10.2 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Nationals' Alberto Baldonado: Jumps to big leagues
The Nationals selected Baldonado's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday. Baldonado earned his first big-league call-up after he submitted a 3.23 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 31:8 K:BB in 30.2 innings with Rochester following his promotion from Double-A Harrisburg.
