Stoudt was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Stoudt has struggled mightily both in the majors and at Louisville this season, particularly from a control perspective. He would figure to slide back into Louisville's rotation.... See More ... Reds' Levi Stoudt: Recalled from Louisville
Cincinnati recalled Stoudt from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. Stoudt has been lit up for 11 earned runs in 10 innings of work this season at the major-league level, but he'll get another look in a long-relief role. Daniel Duarte was optioned out in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Optioned to Triple-A
Cincinnati optioned Stoudt to Triple-A Louisville on Monday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Stoudt allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks over just three innings in a spot start Sunday versus Atlanta. The 25-year-old right-hander now carries a 9.90 ERA in 10 major-league innings (two starts, one relief appearance) for the season.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Struggles in short start
Stoudt allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two over three innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Sunday. Stoudt wasn't built up to a starter's workload, but it was a rough third inning that ended his spot start. He's struggled to a 9.90 ERA, 2.20 WHIP and 8:7 K:BB through 10 big-league innings across three appearances (two starts) this season. Ben Lively (pectoral) is on the injured list, but it's unclear if Stoudt will continue to fill the vacancy in the Reds' rotation or if another pitcher will get a chance. If he gets another start, it's likely to be at home versus the Padres.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Called up for Sunday's start
Stoudt was recalled from Triple-A Louisville ahead of his start against Atlanta on Sunday. The 25-year-old has given up eight earned runs across seven frames in his two starts for the Reds this year, but he'll receive another chance Sunday after Ben Lively (pectoral) landed on the injured list. Stoudt covered just 1.2 innings during his last start for Louisville and isn't fully built up after dealing with a rib injury, per Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, so Cincinnati also promoted reliever Randy Wynne for bullpen depth.... Reds' Levi Stoudt: Recalled, available in relief
The Reds recalled Stoudt from Triple-A Louisville ahead of Saturday's game against the Marlins, and he'll be available out of the bullpen for the contest. With Nick Lodolo (calf) scratched from his start and Stoudt scratched from his own outing in the minors, the latter appeared headed for a spot start with the big club Saturday. Instead,Derek Law will begin the game on the mound for Cincinnati, but there's a good chance Stoudt will handle the bulk of the innings after him.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Not starting Saturday
Stoudt won't start Saturday's game against the Marlins, as Derek Law will get the nod as an opener instead, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Nick Lodolo was scratched from his scheduled start with a sore left calf, and Stoudt was scratched from his own Triple-A start Friday, so it looked as though Stoudt was about to get the nod for the big-league club. He could still serve as a bulk reliever behind Law, but he hasn't been officially added to the Reds' roster, so it's not yet clear whether that's on the table.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Could make spot start Saturday
Stoudt was scratched from his scheduled start Friday at Triple-A Louisville and could be recalled to make a spot start for the Reds on Saturday in Miami, Jim Day of Bally Sports Cincinnati reports. According to Day, Stoudt was scratched Friday after it became apparent that Reds starter Nick Lodolo wouldn't be ready to take the hill Saturday for his turn through the rotation while he continues to deal with lingering calf/ankle soreness. Due to Stoudt's late scratch Friday along with the fact that Saturday's game in Miami begins at 1:10 p.m. ET, it's not immediately clear if he'll be able to secure travel arrangements and arrive at LoanDepot Park with enough time to complete a warmup. If Stoudt isn't formally activated for the start, the Reds could choose to treat Saturday's game as a bullpen day. Stoudt previously made his big-league debut back on April 19 versus the Rays, working four innings while allowing seven earned runs on nine hits and a walk.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Moves to Triple-A
Stoudt was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Stoudt got knocked around in a spot start Wednesday versus the Rays, yielding seven earned runs on nine hits and one walk over four innings. Luke Weaver (forearm) has been activated off the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move and will jump into Cincinnati rotation Thursday against the Pirates.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Levi Stoudt: Promotion official ahead of start
The Reds recalled Stoudt from their taxi squad ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Rays in Cincinnati. Reliever Casey Legumina was optioned to Triple-A to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for the 25-year-old Stoudt, who will be making his big-league debut. Stoudt owns a 4.09 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB over 11 innings across his three starts with Louisville this season and isn't a highly regarded prospect, so he'll be tough to depend on as a streaming option while he pitches in a hitter-friendly park versus the 15-3 Rays. Though Stoudt is expected to be in line for just one start, an unexpectedly strong showing versus the Rays could allow him to stick in the rotation over Luis Cessa, who was walloped for 11 earned runs in his most recent start and could be at risk of a demotion to the bullpen.... Reds' Levi Stoudt: Shipped to Cincy
Stoudt was traded from the Mariners to the Reds along with Noelvi Marte, Edwin Arroyo and Andrew Moore in exchange for Luis Castillo on Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Stoudt was seen as one of the Mariners' top 10 or 15 prospects coming into the year, but he has struggled quite a bit at Double-A, logging a 5.28 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in 87 innings. The 24-year-old righty could develop into a back-end starter or a swingman.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Levi Stoudt: Reassigned to minor-league camp
Stoudt was reassigned to minor-league spring training Friday. Stoudt was in the mix for the fifth spot in the Mariners' starting rotation during camp, but he failed to land a big-league roster spot after he gave up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one in 2.1 innings during his lone Cactus League appearance. The 24-year-old made three starts at Double-A Arkansas last year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him advance at some point in 2022.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Levi Stoudt: In mix for No. 5 starter job
Stoudt is a candidate for the Mariners' currently vacant No. 5 spot in the rotation, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Stoudt's main competition appears to be Matt Brash and George Kirby, two fellow prospects with no shortage of talent or pedigree. Stoudt built up more extensively than Kirby last season in the minors, but his 81.2 innings during 2021 check in just behind Brash's 97.1. Stoudt, who has just one season of professional experience under his belt, held his own during his first Cactus League start against the Dodgers on Saturday, throwing 55 pitches over 2.1 innings while facing regulars Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger and Chris Taylor....
