The Yankees optioned Krook to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

  • Yankees' Matt Krook: Joins big-league bullpen

The Yankees recalled Krook from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Krook is a 28-year-old southpaw who has yet to make his big-league debut. He converted to relief with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season with promising results, recording a 1.04 ERA and 47.9 percent strikeout rate in 17.1 innings, though he also walked 16.9 percent of the batters he faced. He'll presumably start out in a low-leverage role until he proves he can have similar success against MLB bats.

  • Yankees' Matt Krook: Optioned to Triple-A

Krook was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Krook's contract was selected by the Yankees in November, but he was unable to secure a spot in the major-league bullpen to begin the regular season. Over six Grapefruit League appearances this spring, he posted a 3.75 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 12 innings. The southpaw hasn't yet made his big-league debut, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him do so at some point in 2023.
