Colorado optioned Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. This move clears out a 26-man roster spot for Kyle Freeland (shoulder) as he readies to return to the Rockies' rotation Friday against the Athletics. Pint did not make an appearance during his two-game stay in the majors.... See More ... See Less

Rockies' Riley Pint: Recalled from Triple-A
Colorado recalled Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Pint has struggled in both the minors and majors this season. The 25-year-old right-hander will likely operate in a low-leverage bullpen role.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Riley Pint: Optioned to Triple-A
Colorado optioned Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports. Pint made his MLB debut in a relief appearance Wednesday afternoon against the Reds and allowed one run on one hit and three walks while recording only one out. Karl Kauffmann will take over the vacant roster spot and start Friday against the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Riley Pint: Promotion official
The Rockies recalled Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. Colorado cleared a spot on the 26-man active roster for Pint by placing right-hander Ryan Feltner (head/concussion) on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Pint, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, received his first call-up to the big leagues after posting a 7.41 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 24:16 K:BB across 17 innings out of the Albuquerque bullpen.... Rockies' Riley Pint: In line for first career call-up
The Rockies plan to recall Pint from Triple-A Albuquerque ahead of Sunday's game against the Phillies, Russell Dorsey of Bally Sports reports. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, Pint has finally reached the big leagues after spending seven seasons in the minors and even retiring for a brief period in 2021. The 25-year-old right-hander made the conversion to full-time relief duty upon ending his retirement and pitched well enough between stops at Albuquerque and Double-A Hartford to earn a 40-man roster spot this offseason. Though he's turned in a 7.41 ERA and 2.06 WHIP in 17 innings at Albuquerque in 2023, Pint has had the misfortune of pitching in some hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League parks and has still struck out 27.9 percent of the batters he's faced for all of his struggles. Pint will likely be ticketed for low-leverage work out of the bullpen during his first stint in the majors.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Riley Pint: Shakes off oblique injury
Pint (oblique) worked an inning of relief Saturday in Triple-A Albuquerque's 6-1 loss to Round Rock, giving up two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two. Though an oblique strain sidelined Pint for a good chunk of Rockies camp, he avoided a season-opening stint on the big-league injured list or the minor-league IL. After being added to the 40-man roster over the winter, Pint appears to be on the cusp of making his MLB debut, but he'll first have to perform well at the Triple-A level before getting a call to the Colorado bullpen.... Rockies' Riley Pint: Nursing oblique injury
Rockies manager Bud Black said Wednesday that Pint is dealing with a mild oblique strain, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Pint apparently sustained the injury during a workout Tuesday, though because the right-hander was able to finish the session despite some discomfort, Black is hopeful he won't miss too much time during camp. Pint was added to the Rockies' 40-man roster over the winter, but since he's made just three career appearances above the Double-A level, he doesn't appear to be a serious candidate to make Colorado's Opening Day roster even if he quickly moves past the injury.... Rockies' Riley Pint: Joins 40-man roster
Pint was added to the Rockies' 40-man roster Tuesday. Pint, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 draft, stepped away from baseball in 2021 after significant struggles, but he rejoined the Rockies in March of 2022 and had some success as a reliever at Double-A and Triple-A. Now 25 years old, the former starter will focus on honing his command in order to contribute to the big-league bullpen in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Riley Pint: Ends retirement, rejoins Rockies
Rockies player development director Chris Forbes announced Friday that Pint has ended his brief retirement and rejoined the organization, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Pint, whom the Rockies selected with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, previously announced plans to step away from baseball last June after he endured a slew of injuries and rampant control issues during his first six years in the professional ranks. At 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, Pint's workhorse frame and big fastball that touches triple digits makes it easy to see why the Rockies fell in love with him leading up to the draft, but his poor results at nearly every stop of the minors thus far make it somewhat unlikely that he'll ever reach the majors. He's expected to open the upcoming campaign at High-A Spokane.... See More ... See Less
