  • Jandel Gustave: Released by Diamondbacks

Gustave was released by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, Chris Hillburn-Trenkle of Baseball America reports.

Gustave was signed to a minor-league deal by the Diamondbacks in the offseason after being non-tendered by the Brewers, and he struggled to a 16.43 ERA over nine appearances with Triple-A Reno before being placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list late in April. The right-hander is now free to sign with another club, but his lack of success in 2023 could make for a limited market.

  • Diamondbacks' Jandel Gustave: Sent to minor-league camp

Gustave was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday.

The 30-year-old joined Arizona as a non-roster invitee and was unable to nab a spot on the Opening Day roster. Gustave appeared in 27 games for Milwaukee last season and had a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 27:11 K:BB over 28 innings.

  • Diamondbacks' Jandel Gustave: Receives NRI from Arizona

Gustave signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Gustave has been given an invitation to major-league spring training, where he'll compete for a spot in the Diamondbacks' Opening Day bullpen. The 30-year-old boasts a career 3.56 ERA over 91 relief innings in the big leagues, although he's struck out only 72 despite a fastball which reaches the upper-90s. Gustave's 2022 season ended in August due to a forearm injury, but it would appear doctors in Arizona have cleared him.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Goes on injured list

The Brewers placed Gustave on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right forearm discomfort.

Gustave likely picked up the injury at some point during his most recent relief appearance Sunday in Boston. The right-hander has mostly handled low-leverage work out of the bullpen this season and has turned in a 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over his first 28 innings of the campaign.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Tosses clean frame

Gustave tossed a clean sixth inning in Tuesday's victory over the Twins.

Gustave was the second Brewers reliever to enter Tuesday's contest, and he kept the Twins off the scoreboard after the home team tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Gustave allowed three earned runs over his first two appearances out of the All-Star break, but he still owns a 2.92 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 12 outings since being activated from the injured list June 25.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Earns win in relief

Gustave (1-0) earned the win Sunday against the Blue Jays, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out none and walking none across two innings.

Gustave entered the game in the fifth inning and lasted two innings, throwing 16 of 21 pitches for strikes. Despite allowing two baserunners and not striking out any batters, the righty kept the Jays from reaching the plate. Milwaukee sent him out in a low leverage situation after he allowed five earned runs in his previous 3.2 innings of relief. Gustave will take a 4.80 ERA into his next appearance.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Activated by Brewers

Gustave (hamstring) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Gustave hasn't pitched for the Brewers since May 14, but he recently concluded a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville, where he posted a 2.25 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in four innings over four appearances. The right-hander should serve mainly as a low-leverage reliever for Milwaukee now that he's been activated.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Begins rehab assignment

Gustave (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Gustave sustained a right hamstring strain in mid-May and carried an initial recovery timetable of approximately six weeks. However, the right-hander has now been cleared to return to game action in the minors. It's possible that he'll require multiple rehab appearances prior to rejoining Milwaukee's bullpen, but his stint with the Triple-A club should be the final step in his recovery process.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: To miss approximately six weeks

Gustave is expected to miss around six weeks while recovering from a right hamstring strain, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Gustave was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday, and the injury will sideline him for at least the next month and a half. J.C Mejia figures to take his place in the bullpen, but he's unlikely to see many high-levearge opportunities with Brad Boxberger, Devin Williams and Josh Hader holding down the back end.

Gustave was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

The 29-year-old was sent to Nashville earlier this week but will rejoin the Brewers a few days later with Brent Suter headed to the paternity list. Gustave had a 2.89 ERA over his first eight appearances of the season, but he allowed five runs over his final three outings before being demoted.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Moved to minors

The Brewers optioned Gustave to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Gustave had appeared out of the bullpen in three of the past four days and wasn't likely to be available for Tuesday's game in Cincinnati, so the Brewers opted to swap him off the active roster for a fresh relief arm in J.C. Mejia, who was called up from Nashville. After earning a spot on Milwaukee's Opening Day roster, Gustave appeared in 11 games through the first month of the season and logged a 6.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 12 innings.

Gustave tossed a scoreless sixth inning and picked up his first hold of the season in Sunday's victory over the Cardinals.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Set to break camp with big club

Gustave allowed an earned run but picked up a save in Monday's spring game.

Gustave was hardly sharp Monday, giving up three hits and walking a batter in the lone inning he pitched, but he still found a way to close the door in the Brewers' penultimate exhibition contest. He will not be in the mix for saves when the regular season begins, but he has sewn up a spot in the Brewers' bullpen. Expect him to work in middle relief.

Gustave (1-2) was tagged with the loss in relief Friday against the Dodgers after allowing three runs on two hits and a walk across 1.2 innings.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Reinstated from COVID IL

Gustave was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Saturday.

The Brewers added a couple arms to bolster the bullpen after starter Freddy Peralta only made it two innings Friday against St. Louis. Miguel Sanchez got the call alongside Gustave, who had been rehabbing at Triple-A Nashville after a positive COVID test in early August. Gustave will look to keep his scoreless streak with Milwaukee intact now that he's back on the active roster.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Starts rehab assignment

Gustave (COVID-19) reported to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday to begin a rehab assignment, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander has been sidelined since early August after testing positive for COVID-19, so he'll head to Triple-A to get back up to game speed before being activated. Gustave has given up only three hits with a 4:2 K:BB across seven scoreless frames for the Brewers this season.

  • Brewers' Jandel Gustave: Comes out of quarantine

Gustave (illness) was cleared to rejoin the Brewers for workouts over the weekend, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Gustave is working out again after completing a 15-day quarantine following his positive COVID-19 test. Even before he was deactivated, the 28-year-old wasn't seeing high-leverage work out of the Milwaukee bullpen, so the Brewers aren't likely to be in any rush to reinstate him from the COVID-19 injured list. He'll likely head out on a minor-league rehab assignment once he gets a few throwing sessions under his belt.
