  • Reds' Luke Weaver: Takes tough no-decision

Weaver allowed three hits and one walk over 6.1 scoreless innings during Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Cardinals. He stuck out six and didn't factor in the decision.

Weaver recorded an out during the seventh inning for the first time this season and generated 17 swinging strikes on 86 pitches. The right-hander was left with a no-decision despite producing his first quality start, since neither team managed to score until the eighth inning. Weaver surrendered eight home runs in his first four starts of the year, but he's reined in the long ball of late with just one homer allowed over his past three outings.

  • Reds' Luke Weaver: Hit around by Yankees

Weaver did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits and zero walks over 4.1 innings against the Yankees. He struck out four.

Most of the damage was done in the fifth inning, when Weaver gave up three runs after striking out Anthony Volpe to open up the inning. Immediately after recording the punchout, Isiah Kiner-Falefa clubbed a solo home run, then the Yankees fired off four straight hits to get Weaver pulled on just 73 pitches. Though Weaver owns a 6.52 ERA and is giving up 2.6 HR/9 on the year, he remains an intriguing matchup-based streamer and daily fantasy option due to his immense strikeout upside (eight K's in two starts this season). However, he'll have a tough time reaching his punchout upside in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to occur against the Cardinals, who strike out the eighth fewest times per game in MLB.

  • Reds' Luke Weaver: Posts best outing of season

Weaver did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings during a 3-1 loss to the Marlins. He struck out six.

Weaver posted five scoreless frames before allowing a game-tying hit in the sixth and was pulled with one out. It was the first time in five starts that the right-hander hadn't surrendered multiple runs, lowering his ERA from 7.36 to 6.26. Despite the poor start to the campaign, Weaver still boasts a 27:8 K:BB over 27.1 innings, giving him a solid upside if he can start posting more scoreless frames. However, he'll likely have a difficult matchup in his next start, as he's projected to face the Yankees during the opener of a three-game weekend set.

  • Reds' Luke Weaver: Stumbles into first win

Weaver (1-2) picked up the win Tuesday in a 7-6 victory over the Mets, giving up four runs on four hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over six-plus innings. He struck out two.

The right-hander did pitch into the seventh inning for the first time this season, but maybe he shouldn't have as Pete Alonso led off the frame with a solo shot before the next three batters reached base, chasing Weaver from the game. He exited after 82 pitches (57 strikes), and he's now served up multiple homers in three of his four starts this season for Cincy. Weaver's rotation spot isn't in jeopardy for the moment, largely due to the fact he's one of the team's few healthy options, but his 7.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP don't offer much long-term job security. He'll likely next take the mound this weekend in Miami.

  • Reds' Luke Weaver: Tagged with four runs

Weaver dropped to 0-2 after yielding four runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 innings while striking out three in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Padres.

After allowing a two-run double to Juan Soto in the first inning, Weaver settled in for a pair of shutout frames before being charged with another run in the fourth and fifth innings. Weaver has given up at least four runs in each of his three starts this season, resulting in an unsightly 7.88 ERA through 16 innings. He's projected for a home matchup with the White Sox this weekend.
