  • Marlins' Brandon Cunniff: Signs minor league deal with Marlins

Cunniff signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on Wednesday, Baseball America reports.

Cunniff had a 4.24 ERA through 17 innings last season before he was outrighted by the Braves in November. He's likely to begin the season as organizational depth, provided he makes the team, but injuries to the Marlins' bullpen could force them to call Cunniff up, though he wouldn't likely earn many high-leverage opportunities.

  • Braves' Brandon Cunniff: Recalled from Triple-A

Cunniff was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

As a member of the 40-man roster, it's no surprise the Braves called on Cunniff to bolster the big league bullpen depth in September. Aaron Blair (knee strain) was placed on the 15-day DL in a corresponding move.

  • Braves' Brandon Cunniff: Optioned to Triple-A

Cunniff was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

The Braves made a flurry of roster moves Tuesday, bringing up John Gant and Shae Simmons to bolster the bullpen. With that, Cunniff was the roster casualty after serving up four earned runs while only recording one out in his most recent appearance. He'll likely continue to work out of the bullpen at Gwinnett, but he could rejoin the Braves after rosters expand later in the week.

Cunniff was recalled to the majors Thursday.

Cunniff had last been sent down less than two weeks ago, but he tossed four scoreless innings with Triple-A Gwinnett in that span and will now get another chance in the major league bullpen. He'll replace Madison Younginer, who was optioned back to the minors in a corresponding move Thursday.

  • Braves' Brandon Cunniff: Recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett

Cunniff was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Cunniff has split the split time between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett this season. While he dominated at Mississippi, allowing just one run over 12.2 innings, his performance at Gwinnett has been far worse. After 30 games with Gwinnett, Cunniff owns a poor ERA of 4.66 and a 1.31 WHIP. He'll join a weak Atlanta bullpen that has a 4.11 ERA.

Cunniff played in two spring training games for the Braves, totaling 1.1 scoreless innings.

The 27-year-old allowed one hit and struck out three batters in his limited time on the mound this spring. Cunniff played in 39 major league games in 2015, pitching 35 innings with a 4.63 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.
