  • Reds' Walker Lockett: Finds work in Cincinnati

Lockett agreed Monday with the Reds on a minor-league contract, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Lockett will return to North America to continue his career after he spent the 2021 campaign in the Korea Baseball Organization with the Doosan Bears. Despite Lockett turning in a 2.98 ERA and striking out 112 in 124 innings last season, Doosan elected not to bring the 28-year-old back for the 2022 campaign, and he's been a free agent ever since. Lockett previously saw big-league action with the Padres, Mets and Mariners between 2018 and 2020, but the Reds will likely view him as starting depth in the upper levels of the minors. He'll first report to the team's spring training facility in Goodyear, Ariz. to build up before eventually settling at Triple-A Louisville.

  • Walker Lockett: Heading to KBO

The Blue Jays are expected to release Lockett after he agreed in principle on a contract with the Korea Baseball Organization's Doosan Bears, Jee-ho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.

Lockett's deal won't be finalized until he's able to complete a physical in South Korea, and that could still take some time due to pandemic-related travel restrictions. In any case, Lockett doesn't seem to believe his deal with Doosan will fall through, as he lists himself as a member of the Bears on his official Twitter account. The 26-year-old will be heading overseas for the first time in his career after spending parts of the last three seasons in the majors with the Padres, Mets and Mariners, compiling a 7.67 ERA over 54 innings.

Lockett was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays on Monday.

  • Mariners' Walker Lockett: Claimed by Mariners

Lockett was claimed off waivers by the Mariners on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was designated for assignment by the Mets on Friday. Lockett has made just two appearances (one start) in 2020, amassing a 5.63 ERA over eight innings. Since he doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, Lockett will be added to the Mariners' 28-man active roster, likely working out of the bullpen.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: DFA'd by Mets

Lockett was designated for assignment by the Mets on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Lockett tossed two scoreless innings in the first game as he earned the win in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Yankees. However, he'll now be cast off the 40-man roster to make room for David Peterson (shoulder), who was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. The right-hander carries a 5.63 ERA over eight innings across two appearances (one start) this season.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Struggles in spot start

Lockett allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings in Friday's loss to the Phillies. He didn't factor into the decision.

The right-hander stepped in on short notice to start for the Mets on Friday since Jacob deGrom (finger) was unable to make his scheduled start. Lockett should return to the bullpen for now but could be an option to fill in as a starter again as the season progresses.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Set for spot start Friday

Lockett is expected to start Friday's game against the Phillies in place of Jacob deGrom (finger), Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

The team apparently informed Lockett on Thursday night to be ready if the regular starter was unable to pitch, and deGrom was then scratched Friday afternoon. Lockett had an 8.34 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB over 22.2 innings during 2019, but the start will be his first appearance of 2020.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Returns from injured list

Lockett (back) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Lower-back discomfort cost Lockett the early part of the season. Seven of his 13 big-league games to date have been starts, and he could certainly earn some starts in a banged-up Mets rotation at some point this year, though his career 8.84 ERA in 37.2 major-league innings means the Mets probably prefer to try out other options.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Lands on injured list

Lockett was placed on the 10-day injured list with lower back discomfort Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It's not clear how much time Lockett is expected to miss. His absence won't be a significant loss for the Mets, as he struggled to an 8.34 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP in 22.2 innings last season.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Making case for spot

Lockett gave up three hits over three scoreless innings in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins. He struck out two.

It was the right-hander's first start, and second appearance, this spring, and he has yet to give up a run through 4.2 frames. Lockett is out of minor-league options, but given the Mets' offseason pitching additions and his 8.84 career ERA in the majors, the best he can hope for at the end of camp is to win a long-relief spot in the bullpen.

Lockett was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Lockett will provide the Mets with length out of the bullpen for the final month of the season. He's struggled to a 7.79 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 17.1 innings with the big club this season, though he owns a 3.66 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 59 innings with Syracuse. Chris Mazza was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.

Lockett was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

The Mets optioned Lockett to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Lockett joined the Mets for a spot start in the second game of Monday's doubleheader with the Marlins but was never expected to stick around with the big club beyond that outing. He ended up taking a no-decision in the 5-4 win, giving up all of the Marlins' runs in that contest and yielding eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings.

Lockett worked his way out of trouble through the first three innings, but he gave up four runs in his next 1.2 frames before his early exit. The 25-year-old has a 7.79 ERA with a 13:5 K:BB through four starts this season. Lockett was called up as the 26th man for the second game of the twin bill and will not likely remain in the rotation.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Promotion official

The Mets recalled Lockett from Triple-A Syracuse to serve as the 26th man for Monday's doubleheader with the Marlins.

He'll make his fourth start for the big club this season in the back end of the twin bill while Jacob deGrom gets the ball for the first game. Over his previous three turns with the Mets, Lockett has covered only 12.2 innings while surrendering 11 runs on 15 hits and three walks. He'll at least get a soft landing spot in his return to the majors, taking on a Miami offense that ranks last in the majors with a 75 team wRC+ this season.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Tabbed to start Monday

Lockett is scheduled to be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the Marlins, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Lockett allowed one run over five innings during a spot start July 20 and seems destined for a similarly short stay in the majors this time around. The 25-year-old has a 3.83 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB though 47 innings with Syracuse this season.

  • Mets' Walker Lockett: Sent back to minors

Lockett was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Lockett performed well in a spot start over the weekend, firing five scoreless innings in an 11-4 win over the Giants, but he's no longer needed in the big-league rotation with Zack Wheeler (shoulder) back from the injured list. Lockett will remain an option to rejoin the Mets' rotation later in the season should an injury or trade create an opening.
