  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Ejected for arguing

Bryant was ejected from Wednesday's game against the Padres for arguing balls and strikes, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Bryant voiced his displeasure on a called third strike in the top of the fifth inning and got the heave-ho from home plate umpire Brian Knight. He finished the day 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and ultimately went a combined 0-for-12 with five strikeouts across the Rockies' three-game series in San Diego.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: On bench Sunday

Bryant is out of the lineup Sunday versus the Giants. Bryant returned from a fractured finger Sept 11, but he will get his first breather since then. Since returning, the 31-year-old is 7-for-24 with two home runs in six games. In his place, Hunter Goodman will start in right field.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Possible waiver wire pickups

Bryant just returned from an IL stint for a fractured finger three games ago, and already he has two home runs, going 4 for 11 with two walks. True, both of those home runs have come at Coors Field, and that's not where the Rockies will be playing next week. But it is where they'll be playing all seven of their games the following week, which is Championship Week in many leagues. Coors Field is the reason we've held out hope for a Bryant resurgence the past couple years. Injuries have prevented it from happening, but it's still a venue that could bring out the best in him. Given that he's come out of the gate hot, showing no ill effects from the injury, it's reasonable to think he could be a league-winner in that final week.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Championship pickups

While Bryant has again spent most of this season on the IL, he recently returned from a fractured finger and reminded us with his big game Tuesday the sort of damage he can do at Coors Field. That's where the Rockies will be for their final seven games of the season, making him too dangerous of a weapon to leave on the waiver wire.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Produces trio of RBI

Bryant went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Cubs. Bryant accounted for the bulk of Colorado's runs on the day, driving in Brendan Rodgers and Alan Trejo in the fourth inning before coming around to score himself and then swatting a solo home run off Daniel Palencia. After missing a month and a half with a finger injury, Bryant is 3-for-8 (.375) in two games since being activated from the IL. He'll look to keep up the production throughout the remainder of Colorado's week-long homestand.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Officially activated by Colorado

Bryant (finger) was activated from the injured list Monday, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. It was announced earlier in the day that Bryant was on track to return Monday, and the Rockies made the move official shortly thereafter. Bryant figures to be busy the rest of the way, but it has not been announced whether or not he will be in the lineup for Monday's matchup against his former team, the Cubs.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Coming back from IL on Monday

The Rockies are expected to reinstate Bryant (finger) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Cubs, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Bryant has missed the Rockies' last 45 games while recovering from a fractured finger on his left hand, but after taking batting practice last week and incorporating full baseball activities into his training regimen, he looks like he'll be ready to rejoin the lineup without requiring a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand. When healthy this season, Bryant has made starts either in right field or designated hitter, but Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette suggests the 31-year-old may also get some exposure to left field and first base down the stretch.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Takes batting practice on field

Bryant (finger) took batting practice on the field Monday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. It's the first time he's done so since suffering a fractured left index finger in late July. There remains no timetable for Bryant's return to the Rockies' lineup, but he should make it back at some point later this month if all goes well. When he does return, Bryant could see some action at first base in addition to the outfield.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Set to shed splint

Bryant will have the splint removed from his broken left index finger Tuesday, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. Bryant underwent an X-ray Monday, and doctors gave him the green light to shed the splint he has been sporting on his finger since late July. The Rockies will see how he responds to baseball activities without the splint before determining the next step in his recovery.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Could play first base upon return

Rockies manager Bud Black said Wednesday that Bryant (finger) could "potentially" play some first base upon his return, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports. "Potentially. Yeah," Black said. "One of Kris' advantages as a player -- this is well documented when he was with the Cubs -- is he played all over." Bryant has only played the outfield in his two seasons in Colorado, but as his skipper alluded to, he's got plenty of past experience at third and first base. The Rockies are using some young players at all three outfield spots and also first base currently, so it would make some sense for Bryant to bounce around to different positions in an effort to give everyone reps. It will be a moot point for a while, though, as Bryant appears to still be a month or so away from returning.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: In splint two more weeks

Bryant will remain in a splint for a couple more weeks after undergoing a checkup X-ray on his fractured left index finger Monday, Kelsey Wingert-Linch of AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports. The fracture hasn't healed as quickly as hoped and Bryant can now probably be ruled out through at least mid-September given that he won't be able to resume baseball activities until at least late August. The 31-year-old has appeared in only 65 games this season for the Rockies after also being limited to just 42 games in 2022.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Still wearing splint on finger

Bryant said Monday that he's uncertain when he'll be able to remove the splint protecting his fractured left index finger, MLB.com reports. "[The Rockies medical staff] don't want me to move [the finger] at all," Bryant said. Bryant was placed on the 10-day injured list July 25 due to the broken finger on his glove hand, and while he continues to wear the splint, he doesn't look as though he'll be able to do much in the way of baseball activities. Bryant is without a clear timeline to return to the field in what's shaping up to be another disappointing, injury-marred season in Colorado for the 31-year-old, who is in the second year of a seven-year, $182 million contract.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Diagnosed with fractured finger

Colorado placed Bryant on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured left index finger, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Bryant was originally diagnosed with a contusion when he took a pitch off his hand Saturday in Miami, but further imaging conducted early this week revealed the fracture. It's unclear how long he might be sidelined. Elehuris Montero is joining the Rockies in a corresponding roster move ahead of Tuesday's game in Washington. Randal Grichuk will start in right field.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Out again Tuesday

Bryant (finger) is out of the lineup again Tuesday versus the Nationals. Randal Grichuk will start in right field and Jurickson Profar will serve as the Rockies' designated hitter. Bryant has been sidelined since taking a pitch off his right index finger Saturday in Miami, but X-rays came back negative and he is expected to avoid the injured list.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Not starting Sunday

Bryant (finger) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Miami, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The veteran outfielder exited Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch on his finger, and he'll miss at least one game as a result. Bryant had X-rays come back negative and has been diagnosed with a bruised right index finger, though he isn't necessarily a lock to return to the lineup Monday in Washington. Nolan Jones will man right field Sunday for Colorado.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Exits after pitch hits finger

Bryant exited Saturday's game against the Marlins after getting hit in his finger by a pitch, but his X-rays were negative, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports. Bryant seems to have avoided serious injury, but he could still wind up missing a few days. The Rockies owe him $130 million over the next five seasons and are nowhere close to the playoff race, so they have every reason to be cautious. Bryant has just three hits in seven games since the break, so he could probably use a day off anyway.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: In Friday's lineup

Bryant (forearm) is playing right field and batting second Friday in Miami. Bryant had to depart Wednesday's contest versus the Astros after he was hit on the forearm by a pitch, but X-rays came back clean and he's ready to roll following the Rockies' off day Thursday. The 31-year-old has popped three home runs in his first 12 games this month.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: X-rays clean on forearm

X-rays came back negative on Bryant's forearm after he was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's loss to the Astros, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports. Bryant made an early exit, but it sounds like he'll be fine for the Rockies' three-game weekend series in Miami following a scheduled team off day Thursday. He finished 0-for-2 with the HBP on Wednesday and is slashing .254/.332/.383 through 268 plate appearances this year with Colorado.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Showing improved power

Bryant went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Astros. Bryant took Hunter Brown deep in the first inning, marking his eighth homer of the season. After going deep only five times across his first 204 at-bats of the campaign, Bryant has now tallied three long balls in his last nine games and 34 at-bats. He still has a career-low .131 ISO for the season.

  • Rockies' Kris Bryant: Goes deep in win

Bryant went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-2 win over the Yankees. Bryant padded the Rockies' lead with his seventh-inning blast. He's gone 9-for-32 (.281) in July, hitting safely in seven of his eight games this month. The 31-year-old battled a heel injury during the first half, so staying healthy will be key for him going forward. Bryant is slashing .261/.337/.385 with seven homers, 21 RBI, 26 runs scored, seven doubles and no stolen bases over 59 contests this season.
