  • Mets' Kyle Crick: Lands on Triple-A IL

Triple-A Syracuse placed Crick (calf) on its 60-day injured list Monday. Crick was scheduled to attend big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, but he didn't make any Grapefruit League appearances after suffering a calf strain prior to the start of spring training. His placement on the 60-day IL suggests that the Mets aren't counting on Crick contributing for the Triple-A club until late May or early June.

  • Mets' Kyle Crick: Out with calf strain

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Monday that Crick could miss all of spring training with a calf strain, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Crick is in Mets camp as a non-roster invitee, but his bid for a roster spot could come to an end before it begins. The veteran reliever didn't pitch anywhere in 2023 after opting out of his minor-league contract with the Rays last spring.

  • Mets' Kyle Crick: Gets NRI from NYM

Crick signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Friday and received an invitation to major-league spring training, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Although Crick hasn't pitched in a game since 2022, the Mets will invite him to major-league camp for an opportunity to make their Opening Day bullpen. Crick posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 15.2 innings with the White Sox two years ago, but an elbow injury ended his season early, and he remained a free agent for the entire 2023 campaign.

  • Kyle Crick: Exercises opt-out clause

Crick exercised his opt-out clause in his contract with the Rays, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Crick signed a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Rays in February. That contract included the ability to test free agency if he wasn't added to the 40-man roster by this point, and he's now free to join another club. Crick has had success with other clubs when healthy, but he is likely looking at a similar deal with another team whenever he signs.

  • Rays' Kyle Crick: Getting NRI from Tampa Bay

Crick (elbow) signed a minor-league contract Saturday with the Rays that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Crick held a free-agent showcase for interested teams in late January and apparently grabbed the attention of the Rays' evaluators. He missed most of the 2022 season because of an elbow injury but should be back to full strength leading into camp. The 30-year-old reliever has posted a career 3.56 ERA with 201 strikeouts in 187.1 total major-league innings.

Crick (elbow) had a throwing session for teams Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. Crick was attempting to show teams he's now healthy after he missed the final four months of the 2022 season with an elbow injury. • White Sox's Kyle Crick: Outrighted to Triple-A

Crick (elbow) was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. • White Sox's Kyle Crick: Moved to 60-day IL

The White Sox transferred Crick (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday. Crick has already been sidelined beyond the minimum 60 days, so the transaction won't affect his eventual timeline for a return. Considering Crick has yet to even head out on a minor-league rehab assignment, he seems unlikely to be activated until September. By moving Crick to the 60-day IL, the White Sox were able to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for catcher Carlos Perez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of Sunday's game against the Guardians.

  • White Sox's Kyle Crick: Placed on injured list

Crick was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation Wednesday, retroactive to June 14. Crick gave up three runs over 2.1 innings over his last two outings, and it's possible that his elbow injury contributed to his struggles. He'll be unavailable until at least late June, while Vince Velasquez (groin) was reinstated from the IL to start Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

  • White Sox's Kyle Crick: Back in big leagues

Crick was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. Crick has made eight big-league appearances this season, struggling to a 5.14 ERA while walking 20.6 percent of the batters he's faced. He owns a 4.60 ERA since the start of the 2019 season, so he's unlikely to find high-leverage work during his time on the roster.

  • White Sox's Kyle Crick: Returns to big club

The White Sox recalled Crick from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Crick will rejoin the White Sox ahead of the team's doubleheader versus the Royals on Tuesday, operating as their 27th player for the twin bill. • Kyle Crick: Seeking new organization

The White Sox released Crick on Wednesday. Chicago brought Crick in on a minor-league deal in late July, shortly after he was cut loose by the Pirates. Though the right-hander impressed in his eight relief appearances at Triple-A Charlotte with an 0.87 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in 10.1 innings, his efforts weren't enough for him to earn a promotion to the White Sox when the roster expanded from 26 to 28 men Wednesday. Crick shouldn't have to wait long before finding an opportunity with another organization.

Crick was released by the Pirates on Saturday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. • Pirates' Kyle Crick: DFA'd by Pittsburgh

Crick was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Monday. Crick has long been thought of as a future closer in Pittsburgh and has 36 holds since 2018, but he lost his spot on the 40-man roster after posting a 4.44 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 21:19 K:BB over his first 27 outings of the season. The 28-year-old could generate some interest on the waiver wire given his potential.

  • Pirates' Kyle Crick: Blows save Wednesday

Crick (1-1) allowed four runs on two hits and two walks over one-third of an inning to take the loss Wednesday against Atlanta. The righty entered with a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth and opened the floodgates for Atlanta. The Pirates trailed 7-3 at the end of the inning. With the brutal outing, Crick's ERA ballooned from 3.13 to 4.63. He suffered his first blown save of 2021 and failed to earn his seventh hold. While Crick boasts impressive stuff -- particularly a sweeping slider with huge break -- he must improve upon his 20:18 K:BB if he's to be an effective relief option for the Pirates.
