  • Brewers' Jose Quintana: Stifles Tigers for second win

Quintana (2-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over Detroit, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out four. The veteran southpaw couldn't match the seven scoreless innings he tossed in his season debut, but Quintana was still sharp in his second outing of 2025. He tossed 58 of 100 pitches for strikes, including 20 called strikes as he kept Tigers hitters guessing. Quintana will take a 0.71 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB through his first 12.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week in San Francisco.

  • Brewers' Jose Quintana: Dazzles in Milwaukee debut

Quintana (1-0) picked up the win Friday, scattering four hits over seven scoreless innings in a 7-0 victory over the Diamondbacks. He struck out two without walking a batter. The veteran southpaw tossed 50 of 80 pitches for strikes in his 2025 debut after signing a one-year deal with the Brewers in early March and needing some extra time to get ramped up, and he didn't allow a runner to get past first base until his final inning of work. Quintana is coming off a strong campaign with the Mets, posting a 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 135:63 K:BB through 170.1 regular-season frames in 2024, and he appears ready to help stabilize Milwaukee's injury-ravaged rotation. He lines up to make his next start at home next week against the Tigers.

  • Brewers' Jose Quintana: Recalled, starting Friday

Quintana will start against the Diamondbacks on Friday after being recalled by Milwaukee from the Rookie ACL Brewers, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Quintana spent much of the offseason as a free agent, but he signed a one-year deal with the Brewers in early March and opted to start the year in the minors to get stretched out. With multiple Milwaukee starters on the injured list, Quintana will get the call-up Friday and make his first appearance in a Brewers uniform, though it's uncertain what type of workload he will handle in his debut. The veteran southpaw went 10-10 across 31 regular-season starts for the Mets in 2024, posting a 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 135:63 K:BB across 170.1 innings.

  • Brewers' Jose Quintana: Sent to minors

The Brewers optioned Quintana to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. Quintana agreed to be optioned to the minors so that he could continue to get stretched out after he was unsigned throughout the offseason before reaching a one-year deal with Milwaukee on March 5. The veteran southpaw built up to three innings and 37 pitches in his final Cactus League outing March 22, so he may need just a couple of starts in the minors before the Brewers deem him ready to join the big-league rotation.

  • Brewers' Jose Quintana: Won't be ready to begin season

Quintana will likely need two additional starts before he is able to make his 2025 debut, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Quintana was signed in early March and has since made two Cactus League starts. The most recent came Saturday, when he completed three innings of work. Though the team's plans haven't been made official, this report suggests Quintana would be able to take the mound at some point during the second week of April.

The Brewers agreed to terms on a one-year, $4 million contract with Quintana on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. Quintana was left dangling on the free-agent market into March but has finally found a new club. The deal is worth $4-5 million, per Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com, with more possible in incentives. It's not clear whether the veteran left-hander will have enough time to ramp up for Opening Day, but once he's ready Quintana will join the Brewers' rotation. The 36-year-old made 31 regular-season starts for the Mets last season, collecting a 3.75 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 135:63 K:BB over 170.1 innings.

This was his first start since Sept. 18, and while he put in a decent performance, the Mets' offense mustered just two hits and a walk in support. Quintana has been dominant lately, allowing just four runs (three earned) across 36.1 innings over his last six starts of the regular season. His nine strikeouts Saturday were a season high. • Mets' Jose Quintana: Picks up seventh victory

Quintana (7-9) earned the win over the White Sox on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six batters over five innings. Quintana was staked to a three-run lead in the top of the first inning and never let Chicago catch up. The southpaw needed 98 pitches to get through five frames and thus wasn't able to go deep enough to notch a second straight quality start, but he was otherwise effective in holding the White Sox without an extra-base hit and yielding just one earned run. Quintana had a rough four-game stretch to begin August during which he posted an 0-3 record and an 8.27 ERA, but he bounced back in his final two starts of the month, allowing just one earned run across 11.1 frames.

  • Mets' Jose Quintana: Shaky vs. Oakland

Quintana didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the A's, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out one. Quintana struggled for most of Thursday's outing, though he'd manage to hold Oakland scoreless through the first three innings, despite loading the bases twice. However, the A's made the left-hander pay in the fourth, when JJ Bleday launched a grand slam following a pair of two-out walks. It's the third time in five starts that Quintana has issued four or more walks -- he's now allowed 12 runs over 15.2 innings in his last three outings. Overall, Quintana is 6-8 on the year with a 4.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 103:50 K:BB across 129 innings. • Mets' Jose Quintana: Takes seventh loss

Quintana (6-7) allowed three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out four over five innings to take the loss versus the Angels on Sunday. Neither Quintana nor opposing starter Griffin Canning had great control Sunday, but the Angels were able to get more done. A wild pitch allowed one run to score, and the other two runs on Quintana's line came via sacrifice flies. Control issues have been a an off-and-on thing for the southpaw recently -- he has issued three-plus walks in four of his last seven starts, though he's given up more than two runs just twice in that span. The 35-year-old is now at a 3.95 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 94:44 K:BB through 118.1 innings over 22 starts this season. Quintana's next start is projected to be at Seattle.

The veteran southpaw collected his eighth quality start of the season with this solid 97-pitch performance. Quintana appeared to be in for a rough evening, as he opened by allowing a leadoff double to Manuel Margot and run-scoring single to Byron Buxton. However, that wound up being the only run he surrendered, as the 35-year-old closed out July with a dazzling 2.05 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 30.2 innings across five starts. Quintana is scheduled to make his August first start against a former team, the Angels, on the road this weekend.
