  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Picks up second win

Anderson (2-0) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Red Sox. He struck out three. Anderson was touched up by two doubles in the fourth inning. Otherwise he rolled through the Red Sox. Anderson posted six shutout innings in his first start of the season, but he struggled from there. His ERA after four starts in April was 5.74, but in May, his ERA is 3.68. His WHIP is still 1.55 in May, so his rebound could be short-lived. He has 30 strikeouts in 48.2 innings this season, meaning his ERA and WHIP need to improve to provide fantasy value.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Unravels in fifth inning

Anderson allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over five innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Thursday. Anderson got through four frames without allowing a run, but he was touched up for three hits and three runs in the the fifth. The left-hander walked multiple batters for the seventh time through eight starts and extended his streak of no-decisions to seven. Anderson has nearly as many walks (21) as strikeouts (27) this season, and his 5.27 ERA is more than double the career-best 2.57 mark he posted with the Dodgers last year.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Yields three runs

Anderson allowed three runs on six hits and three walks over six innings during Friday's win over Cleveland. He struck out one and did not factor in the decision. Anderson got off to a rough start, coughing up a run in each of the first two innings. He settled in and kept the Guardians off the board for a few innings before allowing one more run in the fifth. Anderson's command has been pretty inconsistent this season; after posting a 1.7 BB/9 with the Dodgers last season, he's walked 19 batters through 37.2 frames (4.5 BB/9) in 2023. Anderson's one strikeout tied a season low and he's struck out four or fewer in five starts. He's currently projected to start in Baltimore next week.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Issues five walks in no-decision

Anderson allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and five walks while striking out six in five innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Friday. Anderson's five walks were a season high, though he didn't end up having to pay for it. The Angels were able to get the win in 10 innings after the lefty's effectively wild outing, which saw him throw 63 of 103 pitches for strikes. Anderson has a 5.40 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 24:16 K:BB through 31.2 innings over six starts this season. He's tentatively scheduled for a road start in Cleveland next week.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Bounces back with quality start

Anderson did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks over 6.2 innings against Milwaukee. He struck out seven. Entering Friday, Anderson had allowed five or more earned runs in three consecutive starts. He rebounded nicely against Milwaukee with his longest outing and most strikeouts of the season. The lefty lowered his ERA to 5.74, which doesn't compare well to his career-best 2.57 ERA from last season.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Struggles again Saturday

Anderson did not factor in the decision against Kansas City on Saturday, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and no walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out one batter. Anderson began his outing with two scoreless frames, but he couldn't keep the positives going from there. The southpaw gave up a run in the third and two in the fourth before departing with one out in the sixth after loading the bases. Two of those runners came around to score to round out Anderson's poor stat line. The veteran hurler began the campaign with six scoreless innings against Oakland, but he's since given up 16 earned runs over his subsequent 14 frames. His ERA now sits at an unsightly 7.20, and his 11:8 K:BB is far from promising.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Struggles Saturday

Anderson did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and four walks over four innings during a 9-7 loss to the Red Sox. He struck out two. Anderson was spotted a four-run lead thanks to a grand slam from Gio Urshela in the first inning, but the left-hander couldn't take advantage. He served up a two-run home run to Rafael Devers in the bottom of the first, and another two-run shot by Yu Chang in the fourth gave Boston a 5-4 lead. After tossing six scoreless frames in his first start with the Angels, Anderson has given up 11 runs, including five homers, over his past two appearances. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for the Angels' upcoming three-game weekend series against Kansas City.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Struggles in second start

Anderson pitched 4.2 innings against Toronto on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters. He did not factor in the decision. Anderson made it through two scoreless innings Saturday before Toronto tagged him for a pair of two-run home runs in the third. George Springer later hit a solo shot off the left-hander in the fifth inning, as all five runs against him came via the long ball. This was a disappointing outing for Anderson after he tossed six scoreless frames against Oakland in his season debut. He had a career-best campaign with the Dodgers last season, but his pitch-to-soft-contact approach yields minimal strikeouts to strongly lessen his fantasy value.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Tosses six scoreless frames

Anderson (1-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing zero runs on four hits and two walks across six innings in a 6-0 victory over the Athletics. He struck out four. Anderson is coming off a career-best campaign in which he posted a 2.57 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with a 15-5 record over 30 appearances (28 starts) with the Dodgers. He logged a 1.35 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 13.1 innings over three spring outings, and his regular season got off to a solid start during Sunday's team debut in a favorable matchup. He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Blue Jays on Saturday.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Six scoreless against D-Backs

Andrew hurled six scoreless innings during Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks. Anderson allowed just three hits, walking two with four strikeouts. The left-hander has made just two spring appearances in 2023, but he has yet to allow a run while giving up just those three hits in eight innings of work. Anderson had a breakout season in 2023, and while those results aren't likely repeatable, he does have a chance to provide fantasy value this summer if he's a semblance of the pitcher he was with the Dodgers in 2022.

Anderson signed a three-year, $40 million deal with the Angels on Tuesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. The 32-year-old lefty is coming off a career year with the Dodgers, recording a 2.57 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over 178.2 innings.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Anderson: Strikes out 10 in loss

Anderson (15-5) took the loss during Sunday's 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Rockies, allowing two runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts in five innings. Anderson limited the damage to one run in each of the first and third innings despite putting at least one runner on in each of his five frames. The 32-year-old peppered the strike zone with 63 of 86 pitches going for strikes with an impressive 21 of the swinging variety en route to tying his career-high with 10 strikeouts. Anderson concludes a statement 2022 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.00 WHIP -- ranking 11th and 12th in MLB, respectively -- with 138 strikeouts across 178.2 innings in 28 starts and 30 games.

Anderson registered a no-decision during Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to San Diego, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out three in six innings. Anderson permitted all the damage in the first inning, allowing both runs on a two-out Wil Myers single before retiring the next 16 Padres. The 32-year-old tossed an efficient 52 of 71 pitches for strikes with five of the swinging variety in extending his streak of surrendering three runs or fewer to nine starts. Across those nine turns, Anderson has pitched to a 1.85 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 58.1 innings. His 2.54 ERA and 1.00 WHIP both rank ninth in MLB and he'll look to wrap up a breakout campaign with one last start, currently set to come Sunday against the Rockies.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Anderson: Stuck with loss in quality start

Anderson (15-4) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Diamondbacks, giving up three unearned runs on two hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six. The veteran lefty was victimized by some bad defense in his return from the paternity list, as a Trea Turner throwing error in the second inning led to Arizona's first run, while three more Los Angeles miscues in the sixth -- including two by Anderson himself -- tacked two more runs on the board. He was still able to extend his quality start streak to four, however, and he has nine in 11 outings since the All-Star break -- a stretch during which Anderson boasts a stellar 1.92 ERA and 1.01 WHIP with a 44:17 K:BB through 70.1 innings.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Anderson: Tosses seven shutout frames

Anderson (15-3) earned the win over Arizona on Monday, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out two batters over seven scoreless innings. Anderson allowed only one extra-base hit in the contest and benefitted from three double plays turned behind him. The southpaw continues to get by without overpowering hitters, as he induced only four swinging strikes and punched out just two batters in the win. Anderson has registered three consecutive quality starts, pitching exactly seven innings in each of the three outings and allowing a combined five runs. He's been a remarkably steady presence for a Dodgers pitching staff that has been hit by injuries throughout the season, going at least six innings in 18 of 22 appearances since May 12. Anderson ranks 11th in MLB with a 2.62 ERA and is tied for fifth with 15 victories.

  • Dodgers' Tyler Anderson: Takes tough-luck loss Wednesday

Anderson (13-3) was tagged with the loss against the Mets on Wednesday, allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out three batters over seven innings. Anderson pitched very well in the contest, yielding only a pair of runs on a two-run homer by Starling Marte in the third inning. That proved to be the difference in the game, as Los Angeles managed only one run against Jacob deGrom and a pair of relievers. Anderson nonetheless notched his ninth quality start in 11 contests since the start of July. He's been a vital addition to the Dodgers' staff this season, leading the team with 147.2 innings pitched while registering a 2.68 ERA and 1.02 WHIP, each of which projects to be a career-best mark by a wide margin.
