  • Dylan Bundy: Parts ways with Mets

The Mets released Bundy on Monday. Bundy joined the Mets on a minor-league deal in late March and was never able to earn a promotion to the big club after posting a 10.08 ERA and 1.96 WHIP over 25 innings in six starts with Triple-A Syracuse before landing on the club's 7-day injured list May 29. Syracuse activated Bundy over the weekend, but he didn't make another appearance before the Mets opted to part ways with the 30-year-old. Bundy will have to settle for another minor-league deal with another organization if he wants to keep his playing career going.

  • Mets' Dylan Bundy: Works two-inning sim game

Bundy threw a two-inning simulated game Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Bundy is in the process of getting stretched out after just landing a minor-league contract from the Mets this past Saturday. He should be able to slide into the rotation at Triple-A Syracuse sometime in mid-to-late April and will function as organizational starting depth for New York in 2023.

  • Mets' Dylan Bundy: Signs minors deal with Mets

Bundy signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Bundy showed promise with a 3.29 ERA in the shortened 2020 season but followed that up with a 6.06 ERA in 2021 and a 4.89 ERA in 2022, leaving him stuck without a big-league offer. His average fastball velocity dipped to 89.2 mph last season while his strikeout rate fell to 15.8 percent, so he won't be an exciting fantasy option even if injuries ahead of him open up a rotation spot.

  • Dylan Bundy: Team declines option

The Twins made Bundy a free agent by declining his 2023 option Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. An $11 million option was excessive for the righty, who posted a 4.89 ERA in 140 innings this season and struggles to miss bats with his low-velocity stuff. Bundy should get another chance to vie for an MLB roster spot somewhere next spring, but he'll likely begin the 2023 season as nothing more than a fifth or sixth starter.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Gives up two runs in no-decision

Bundy gave up two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three over five innings in a 3-2 loss to the Tigers on Saturday. He did not factor into the decision. Bundy made his team-leading 29th start and looked good outside of a home run to Eric Haase. However, he suffered from some poor outfield defense by Matt Wallner in the first inning, which led to an earned run. The performance is a positive note on which to end the season for Bundy, who struggled immensely in September with a 7.06 ERA as the Twins fell out of playoff contention. He finishes the season with an ERA of 4.89, a WHIP of 1.28 and a Baseball-Reference WAR of -0.3.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Charged with loss Sunday

Bundy (8-8) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings to take the loss during Sunday's game against the Angels. Bundy hasn't been particularly effective recently, and Sunday's start marked his fourth consecutive outing in which he's failed to last at least five innings. Although he's been charged with just two losses across that span, he's posted a 9.18 ERA in 16.2 innings over those four starts. The right-hander tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against Detroit on Saturday.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Surrenders pair of homers

Bundy allowed four runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Tuesday. Bundy gave up a two-run home run to MJ Melendez in the third inning and a solo shot to Hunter Dozier in the fifth. After continued trouble in the fifth, Bundy exited with two outs and Griffin Jax allowed an inherited runner to score, tacking a fourth run onto the starter's line. Bundy has completed five innings only once in his last five starts, though he's gone 1-1 with three no-decisions in that span. The veteran right-hander has a 4.78 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 89:26 K:BB through 131.2 innings across 27 starts this year. He's projected for a home start versus the Angels this weekend.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Pulled after four innings

Bundy did not factor in the decision against Kansas City on Thursday, pitching four innings and allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out two batters. Bundy gave up a run in the second and another in the fourth, but he finished the latter frame holding a 3-2 lead. Manager Rocco Baldelli opted not to let him go out for the fifth, preventing Bundy from qualifying for the win. The veteran hurler had thrown only 60 pitches at the time of his departure, so Baldelli may have simply been avoiding having Bundy go through the order for the third time. This was Bundy's shortest start since Aug. 6.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Lit up for seven runs

Bundy (8-7) gave up seven earned runs on 12 hits and no walks while striking out one over 4.2 innings to take the loss in a 7-6 defeat against the Guardians on Friday. Bundy's start got off on the wrong foot, as two runners quickly reached base on a couple of cheap infield singles. The Guardians made Bundy pay by cashing them in as part of a big four-run first inning. Ultimately, Bundy gave up three home runs on 94 pitches, including two off the bat of Oscar Gonzalez. Bundy's ERA rose to 4.68 with the appearance. He tossed five scoreless innings his last time out against the White Sox and can be an effective streamer when matched up against the right opposition, but he didn't have what it takes in this intense high-stakes divisional contest. He is expected to take the bump next week against the Royals.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Turns in lackluster performance

Bundy allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.2 innings against the Red Sox on Monday. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision. Bundy would've earned his eighth win if he would've been able to finish the fifth frame. He gave up an RBI double to Alex Verdugo in the third inning followed by another RBI double to Reese McGuire in the fourth. Bundy is now sporting a 4.53 ERA with an 80:24 K:BB through 23 starts and he's given up two or fewer runs in five straight outings, though he's failed to complete six innings in any of them. The 29-year-old is lined up for a road start against the White Sox this weekend.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Takes loss Wednesday

Bundy (7-6) was handed the loss by Houston on Wednesday. He pitched five innings and allowed two runs on three hits and one walk without notching a strikeout. Bundy gave up a home run to Jose Altuve on his first pitch of the contest, but he settled down from there and limited the Astros to just one additional run over the remainder of his outing. The veteran right-hander induced only one swinging strike and failed to fan a single batter, yet he kept Minnesota in the game and could have had a better fate if not for the continued excellence of opposing starter Framber Valdez. Bundy has quietly pitched well in August, allowing just five runs and 12 hits over 19.1 innings despite earning only one win.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Picks up seventh win

Bundy (7-5) gave up one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out two over 5.1 innings to earn the win in a 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday. Bundy found success at home against the Rangers by leaning heavily on his off-speed offerings and pitching to contact. Only 28 of the 71 pitches he threw were fastballs. Bundy also benefited from errorless defensive support which helped him to notch his seventh win in 21 starts this season despite not having gone six innings in a start since June 24. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 4.60 ERA and 1.23 WHIP this season. Bundy is tentatively expected to make his next start at Houston.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Throws five scoreless innings

Bundy allowed two hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out one across five scoreless inning in a no-decision versus the Angels on Saturday. Bundy again saw a limited pitch count, throwing 46 of 65 pitches for strikes. It's the second start in a row he's been limited to 65 pitches, though he was sharp in his first start against the Angels since leaving the team as a free agent last December. The right-hander has exceeded five innings just once in his last eight outings -- that limited workload makes it tough for him to pick up many wins. He has a 4.76 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 75:21 K:BB through 98.1 innings across 20 starts this season. Bundy is projected for a home start versus the Rangers next week.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Yields two runs in no-decision

Bundy allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Saturday. It was an unusually short start for Bundy (65 pitches, 45 strikes), with the only blemish on his line a two-run home run to Bo Bichette. It doesn't sound like Bundy had any issues, though it may be part of workload management -- his 93.1 innings this season is his highest total in three years. He's logged a 5.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 74:20 K:BB through 19 starts, and he's projected for a road start versus his former team, the Angels, next weekend.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Done in by sixth inning

Bundy (6-5) took the loss during Sunday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts in five-plus innings. Bundy made one mistake early that resulted in a Jurickson Profar solo home run and was in line for the win after Minnesota took the lead in the top of the sixth inning. He subsequently allowed consecutive singles before being pulled, with both runners coming around to score to give the 29-year-old the loss. Bundy targeted the strike zone early and often with 56 of 78 pitches going for strikes and nine coming on swings-and-misses in recording his fifth start without issuing a walk. Bundy carries a 5.04 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to come over the weekend against Toronto.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Struggles in no-decision

Bundy allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five in four innings in a 7-6 loss Tuesday in Milwaukee. He did not factor in the decision. Four of the five runs against Bundy came in the second inning when Hunter Renfroe launched a three-run homer and Christian Yelich drove in a run with a double. In the next inning, Luis Urias tacked on a solo shot. Bundy has been quite inconsistent this season and has seven starts of at least five innings while allowing one run or fewer but also seven starts in which he's allowed at least four earned runs. Tuesday's outing pushed his ERA up to 5.02 through 84.1 innings.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Beats White Sox for sixth win

Bundy (6-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the White Sox. He struck out three. Bundy filled up the strike zone, throwing 65 of 88 pitches for strikes. It wasn't the most dominant outing in terms of whiffs (eight swinging strikes), but Bundy was good enough within the zone to pick up a second straight win. The veteran has been a capable back-end starter for Minnesota this season (4.71 ERA, 1.27 WHIP), and he heads into the All-Star break on a nice little run, having quietly posted a 3.15 ERA over his last six starts.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Collects fifth win

Bundy (5-4) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings, earning the win Sunday over the Rangers. The Twins never trailed in this contest, though Bundy was far from sharp. He had allowed six runs (five earned) in 24 innings across his last four starts, but a three-run double by Josh Smith and a sacrifice fly from Corey Seager accounted for all four runs on Bundy's line Sunday. The right-hander was able to escape with the win when Ryan Jeffers put the Twins ahead with a homer in the sixth inning. For the season, Bundy's posted a 4.68 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 57:16 K:BB through 75 innings in 15 starts. He's lined up for a home start versus the White Sox next weekend.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Solid in no-decision

Bundy allowed a run on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings, taking a no-decision in Friday's extra-inning win over the White Sox. Bundy allowed the first run of the game in the form of a Jose Abreu solo home run in the second inning. This was the first time in four starts Bundy's allowed a long ball, and he's given up six runs (five earned) in 24 innings in that span. The solid stretch has him down to a 4.50 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB through 70 innings in 14 starts overall. The right-hander is scheduled for a road start versus the Rangers this weekend.

  • Twins' Dylan Bundy: Hard-luck loss Friday

Bundy (4-4) allowed a run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six innings, taking the loss Friday versus the Rockies. Bundy pitched well for the second start in a row, but the Twins' offense was limited to three hits and five walks without generating a run. The right-hander's lone run allowed came in the sixth inning on a Charlie Blackmon fielder's choice. Bundy continues to alternate a couple of good starts with a a couple of rough ones for an altogether inconsistent season. He has a 4.80 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB in 60 innings across 12 starts overall. He's projected for a road start in Cleveland next week.
