Astros' Jose Altuve: Records first cycle of career
Altuve hit for the cycle Monday, finishing 4-for-6 with a home run, a triple, a double, four RBI and four runs scored in a 13-5 win over Boston. After recording the 2,000th hit of his career earlier this month, Altuve accomplished another milestone by becoming the first Astros player in 10 years to hit for the cycle. His two-run home run in the eighth inning snapped a 16-game drought, but he remained productive amid the power outage by hitting .339 during that stretch. Since returning from the injured list July 26, Altuve has gone 46-for-121 (.380 average) and is now slashing .322/.415/.529 through 282 plate appearances on the season.... See More ... See Less -

Altuve went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs scored Saturday against the Tigers. Altuve has had an excellent August, as Saturday's performance marked his ninth multi-hit game in 23 appearances. That has amounted to a .370 batting average, and he's also chipped in two homers, 20 runs scored and six stolen bases in that span. Aside from thumb and oblique injuries that have limited Altuve's volume, he's had an excellent season and has maintained an OPS over .900 for the second straight campaign.... See More ... See Less -

Altuve went 0-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI on Wednesday against the Marlins. Altuve returned to the lineup after he exited Tuesday's game following a foul ball off his knee. He was also lifted from Wednesday's game in the eighth inning due to leg soreness, though manager Dusty Baker said the removal was precautionary, per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle. The Astros also had a significant lead in the game at the time, and they also have Thursday off to give Altuve an additional day of rest.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Jose Altuve: Back at leadoff Wednesday
Altuve (knee) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game at Miami. He'll play second base and bat leadoff.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Jose Altuve: Dealing with bruised knee
Altuve left Tuesday's game against the Marlins due to a left knee contusion, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. After fouling the first pitch of Tuesday's game off his left leg, Altuve remained in the game to finish his at-bat, logged an infield single and was replaced at second base by Mauricio Dubon. X-rays on Altuve's knee came back negative, and the 33-year-old second baseman should be considered day-to-day going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Jose Altuve: Exits game early
Altuve was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins with an apparent injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Altuve fouled a ball off his shin during the first inning but stayed in the game to finish his at-bat and legged out an infield single. Mauricio Dubon entered the game in the bottom of the first inning in Altuve's place at second base. The fact Altuve was able to complete his plate appearance is a good sign that his injury isn't serious, but the Astros should offer more details in the near future.... See More ... See Less -

Though it came off catcher Rene Pinto, Altuve now has hits in back-to-back games after going hitless in the first contest he was activated. Astros' Jose Altuve: Hitless in return
Altuve (oblique) went 0-for-3 in Wednesday's 13-5 loss to the Rangers. Altuve played five innings at second base, though his removal was likely due to the Rangers leading by 10 runs to start the sixth. He went 9-for-27 in the seven games prior to his three-week stint on the injured list, but he may have rust to shake off after not having a rehab assignment. Altuve owns a .258/.363/.468 slash line with six home runs, 18 RBI, 25 runs scored and five stolen bases through 33 contests. He should be a near-everyday option at second base over utility man Mauricio Dubon.... See More ... See Less -
