White Sox's Jhan Marinez: Gets look from White Sox
Marinez signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Monday.
Marinez will make his return to the affiliated ball for the first time since 2018 after spending the past three years with three different Mexican League clubs. The 33-year-old right-hander has previously made 103 career MLB relief appearances between seven different teams, posting a 3.56 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. He's expected to open the 2022 season at Triple-A Charlotte in the White Sox organization.

Marinez (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list and outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.
Marinez was on a rehab assignment at Norfolk and will remain there after clearing waivers. The 30-year-old has a 3.21 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 47.2 innings with the Tides this season, while he has given up six runs (five earned) across eight innings with the Orioles.

Marinez (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with the Orioles' Gulf Coast League affiliate, Jon Meoli of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Marinez has been out since early August with a hamstring strain. Given the relatively short length of the injury, it's likely that his rehab assignment won't be too long, leaving him ready to return sometime in the middle of next week.

Marinez was placed on the 10-day DL on Friday due to a right hamstring strain.
Marinez suffered the injury while warming up for his second inning of relief during Thursday's game. Manager Buck Showalter admitted that Marinez isn't likely going to be ready as soon as he's eligible and that he will require a minor-league rehab stint before returning to Baltimore. In a subsequent move, Evan Phillips was called up from Triple-A Norfolk.

Marinez suffered a hamstring injury while warming up in the fifth inning of Thursday's game against the Rangers, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
He gave up two runs on two hits and three walks in the fourth inning and came back out to eat some innings in the fifth inning but was unable to get through his warm-up pitches. For now he should be considered day-to-day, although he could end up on the disabled list.

Baltimore needed a fresh arm for the bullpen, and it will turn to Marinez. He had a 2.78 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 46 strikeouts in 45.1 innings at Triple-A, working primarily as a reliever. The Orioles had an open spot on the 40-man roster, so no corresponding move was needed there.

Since joining the Rangers via a waiver claim earlier this month, Marinez has made three appearances, conceding two runs over 5.1 innings. He loaded the bases in his final inning before Daniel Hudson relieved him and recorded the third out. After being designated for assignment by Milwaukee earlier in the week, the 28-year-old has found a landing spot in Pittsburgh. He did struggle over his 15 appearances with the Brewers this season, notching a 5.40 ERA and an astronomical 2.04 WHIP in 16.2 innings. That said, Marinez was able to post a much more palatable 3.18 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 62.1 innings last season, so there's a chance he'll be able to regain his form in Pittsburgh.
