We have some scary news to pass along from Colorado: Rockies infielder Chris Nelson has been hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat, the club announced on its official Twitter account Monday night.

The Rockies also announced that Nelson is in the hospital undergoing tests. Later, they said he is resting and will remain hospitalized overnight.

Nelson, 26, has appeared in 58 games this season and is hitting .256/.324/.411 with five homers, 23 RBI and 18 runs.

Nelson has seen time this season at second base, shortstop and third base. He was the Rockies' first-round draft pick in 2004 out of Pasadena City College in California.
