The Rockies have interest in catcher Yorvit Torrealba, according to the Denver Post’s Troy Renck.

Torrealba was recently designated for assignment by the Rangers. The team has had difficulty finding a trade partner for him, and have placed him on unconditional release waivers.

If he goes unclaimed, Torrealba will become a free agent on Friday.

Since the Rockies lost catcher Wil Nieves on a waiver claim, they could be in the market for a new catcher.

The 33-year-old Torrealba is hitting .236/.302/.342 this season.
