The Padres have extended outfielder Chris Denorfia through the 2014 season, according to MLB.com's Corey Brock.

Denorfia was arbitration eligible this offseason, but was scheduled to be a free-agent the following year. He has been in the Padres organization since December 2009. Denorfia will make $2 million next season and $2.25 million in 2014.

Since joining the Padres organization, Denorfia’s playing time has increased each season. This year, Denorfia is hitting .290/.346/.445 in 314 plate appearances with the team.
