The Orioles worked out Fernando Tatis and reliever Arthur Rhodes recently, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun.

Tatis, 38, hasn’t played in the majors since 2010. That season, he hit .185/.254/.338 in 72 plate appearances with the Mets.

Tatis is most known for being the only player to hit two grand slams in the same inning, which came during Tatis’ excellent 1999 season, when he hit .298/.404/.553 with 34 home runs in 639 plate appearances with the Cardinals.

If signed, it would mark the second comeback in Tatis’ career. After failing to earn a spot on the Devil Rays in 2004, Tatis was released, and did not play again until 2006, when he was signed by Baltimore.

Rhodes, 43, also has ties to the Orioles. The lefty began his 20-year career with the team, coming up in 1991, and remaining on the team through the 1999 season. Rhodes did not pitch in the majors last season. In 2011, he had a 4.64 ERA and a 5.90 FIP in 33 innings with the Rangers and Cardinals.
