Orioles first baseman Nick Johnson will not return this season, according to the Baltimore Sun’s Dan Connolly.

Johnson has been out since late June after fouling a ball off his wrist. Johnson was initially expected to recovery this season, but has had trouble coming back from the injury. Throughout his career, Johnson has had a lengthy injury history.

Before the injury, the 33-year old Johnson was hitting just .207/.324/.291 for the Orioles. When Johnson was slow to return earlier in the year, the team traded for Jim Thome as a possible replacement. While Thome is currently on the disabled list, he's said to be ahead of his rehab, and could return in September.
