The Nationals have the best record in baseball, but they are not expected to make any major splashes at the deadline.

With Wilson Ramos on the DL, the team is looking for upgrades at catcher.

The Nats and Brewers have shown interest in Kelly Shoppach, according to The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo.

CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman has also mentioned the Nationals may be interested in Shoppach.

In 136 plate appearances, Shoppach has hit .261/.343/.513 this season.

CSNWashington.com’s Mark Zuckerman spoke to a Nationals executive last week, and that person did not sound very intrigued by Shoppach.

The Nationals are also expected to discuss Yorvit Torrealba after he was designated for assignment on Monday, according to the Washington Post's Adam Kilgore.

Torrealba has hit .236/.302/.342 this season.

If the Nationals were to acquire a catcher, Jesus Flores would likely lose playing time. Flores, 27, has struggled in a full-time role, hitting .227/.264/.324.

While Torrealba and Shoppach aren’t necessarily big names, both would represent a small upgrade for the Nationals.
