Mets reliever Frank Francisco could still return this season, according to ESPNNewYork.com’s Adam Rubin.

Francisco has not pitched since Sept. 16 because of an injured right elbow. Due to the expanded rosters this month, the team hasn’t placed Francisco on the disabled list. While his return is unknown, he’s categorized as day-to-day with the injury.

With the Mets out of the race, there’s no reason for them to push Francisco to return. Francisco still has another year on his contract and is slated to return to the Mets for $6.5 million next season.

In 42 1/3 innings, Francisco has a 5.53 ERA and a 3.91 FIP for the Mets.
