Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore will remain a free agent until he is fully recovered from September microfracture surgery, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported Monday.

According to his agent, Sizemore could be ready by Opening Day, but rehabilitation and recovery will most likely sideline him until midseason. Sizemore, 30, felt that pressure to get back on the field negatively impacted his recovery from a back surgery prior to the 2012 season.

Sizemore last appeared in the majors with Cleveland in 2011. The lefty hit .224/.285/.422 (96 OPS+) with 32 extra-base hits (10 home runs) in 71 games.
