Angels’ pitcher Garret Richards is expected to make his next start, according to The Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett.

Richards was removed from Tuesday’s Triple-A start due to a left knee injury. Richards had thrown three scoreless innings before he had to leave the game. He was injured trying to cover first base on a grounder. The injury is not believed to be serious, and Richards is not expected to miss time.

The 24-year old pitcher was recently demoted so the Angels could add David Carpenter to their bullpen. He has thrown 54 innings with the Angels this season, registering a 4.33 ERA.

If Ervin Santana continues to struggle in the rotation, Richards would be the most likely in-house candidate to take his place.
