Rangers place Colby Lewis on disabled list, recall Martin Perez

Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 19, with right forearm tendinitis, the club announced Monday afternoon.

Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 19, with right forearm tendinitis, the club announced Monday afternoon.

This is the same injury that kept Lewis on the shelf from June 24-July 17 this season. He made only one start since returning from the DL before having to head back to the list.

Lewis, 32, is 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 93 strikeouts in 105 innings pitched this season.

As a corresponding move, left-handed pitcher Martin Perez has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock.

Perez, 21, is 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in four appearances for the Rangers this season. The highly-touted prospect is 5-5 with a 4.59 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 86 1/3 Triple-A innings this season.
