Indians' Roberto Hernandez will make his first start under new name on Wednesday

The former Fausto Carmona will make his 2012 debut on Wednesday for the Indians against the Angels. It will be his first big-league start under his real name, Roberto Hernandez.

Roberto Hernandez -- formerly Fausto Carmona -- will make his first start under his new name with the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday against the Angels, manager Manny Acta told reporters on Saturday, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian tweets.

Cleveland's 2011 opening-day starter, Hernandez was arrested in January for using a false identity to obtain a visa. He gained his work visa on July 16 and began a three-week suspension on July 21. Hernandez made four minor-league starts, including Friday night when allowed one run on four hits in seven innings for Triple-A Columbus. Overall, he was 2-1 with a 4.07 ERA in four minor-league starts.

The 31-year-old was an All-Star in 2010 and a 19-game winner in 2007. The Indians restructured his contract after he was arrested and the team's option for 2013 was reduced to $6 million from $9 million. He had several bonus opportunities, but it doesn't appear he'll be able be able to hit any of the milestones that would trigger more money for this season and the buyout.
