<img alt= reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo -- formerly known as Leo Nunez -- is "close" to obtaining his work visa, CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman confirms. El Caribe in the Dominican Republic first reported that Oviedo had received his visa.

Last September, Oviedo had to return to the Dominican Republic after it was discovered he'd been using an assumed name. He was charged with identity fraud and still faces an eight-week suspension from Major League Baseball.

The Marlins signed the arbitration-eligible Oviedo, 30, to a one-year, $6 million deal in January, but he won't be able to collect a paycheck until the team activates him from the restricted list. He is a free agent after the season.
