Duane BelowIn their ongoing struggle to replace the injured Doug Fister (left rib-cage muscle strain) in the rotation, the Tigers will now turn to Duane Below.

Lynn Henning of the Detroit News reports that Below will be moved from the bullpen, where he's logged 12.0 scoreless innings on the season, into the rotation. He replaces Adam Wilk, who was optioned back to Triple-A after being cuffed around in his first three major-league starts.

As for Fister, whose absence makes all of this possible, he was able to throw 50 pitches from a mound on Thursday, but he'll likely need at least one minor-league rehab start before he's ready to reclaim his spot in the Detroit rotation.

Below, the 26-year-old left-hander and Michigan native, will make his first start of the season on Monday against the Royals. The ZiPS forecasting system tabs Below for a 5.36 ERA over the remainder of the season in mixed bullpen/rotation duty.
