Infielder Drew Sutton woke up Sunday as a Brave, went to bed a Pirate and will be wearing a Rays uniform Monday. For the second time in two days, Drew Sutton has been traded as Pittsburgh sent the infielder to Tampa Bay in exchange for a player to be named or cash considerations. He is expected to report to Tropicana Field in time for the Rays' game against Toronto.
Sutton, who has played for the Reds, Indians and Red Sox, was with Atlanta's Triple-A team until Sunday, when the Pirates sent cash considerations to the Braves for Sutton.
Sutton was hitting .270/.374/.372 with 10 doubles and no homers for Triple-A Gwinnett. Last season he played in 31 games for the Red Sox, hitting .315/.362/.444 in 60 plate appearances. He played all four infield spots, as well as left field and DH for the Red Sox a year ago.
In Tampa Bay, he could replace Jeff Keppinger. Keppinger was in a a walking boot on Sunday after being hit in the foot by a foul ball from Atlanta's Martin Prado while sitting in the dugout. Sutton was traded from Houston to Cincinnati in exchange for Keppinger in 2009.
