The Brewers have declined to tender a contract to left-handed pitcher Manny Parra, the club announced Friday via Twitter.

Parra, 30, appeared in 62 games for the Brewers in 2012, his first season as a full-time relief pitcher. He managed just a 5.06 ERA largely due to control issues, as he walked 5.4 batters per nine innings.

Parra was once a top prospect in the Brewers system and hurled a perfect game while at Triple-A Nashville. He turned his excellent stuff -- 95 mph from the left side with a split-finger and change-up as well -- into big strikeout numbers (8.4 per nine innings career), but his .337 BABIP is the highest ever for a post-expansion (1961) pitcher with at least 500 career innings, and it's not even close. Glendon Rusch, another former Brewer, checks in second at .326.
