Rays center fielder B.J. Upton had a rather good game Sunday. In the course of a 6-0 thumping of the mighty Rangers, Upton, batting leadoff, went 3 for 5 with three homers, his 19th, 20th and 21st of the season.

Worth noting: Upton's second home run came on a 3-0 pitch from reliever Martin Perez. Also worth noting: Upton joined Jonny Gomes (2005) and Evan Longoria (2008) as the only Rays to homer three times in a game.

Upton, who's eligible for free agency after the season, is now hitting .256/.308/.449.

Overshadowed by Upton was Rays starter James Shields, who tossed a two-hit shutout against the best offense in baseball.
