The Astros have officially recalled right-hander Vincent Velasquez from Double-A Corpus Christi to start Tuesday's game against the Red Sox. Velasquez was optioned down to the minors following is his last start, and did not appear in a game over the All-Star break.
In a corresponding move, reliever Joe Thatcher was designated for assignment on Tuesday.
