Relief pitcher Jordan Walden has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with strained right biceps, the club announced Sunday morning. Kole Calhoun has been recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake as a corresponding move.

Walden, 24, has a 3.86 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 35 strikeouts in 28 innings. He opened the season as the closer, but he lost the job in the midst of a rough start to the season.

Still, he's very capable of being a helpful reliever. He was an All-Star last season and saved 32 games with a 2.98 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings.

Calhoun, 24, will provide outfield depth for a few days, but may not last beyond that -- as the Angels will need a starting pitcher for Tuesday.
