Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols has been arguably baseball's worst player this season. He entered Wednesday hitting .230/.274/.374 on the season. Yet those struggles haven't stopped him from achieving some milestones.
To wit, Pujols homered twice during Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics (OAK-LAA GameTracker), giving him 612 long balls for his career. That number is significant, since it ties Pujols with Jim Thome for the seventh all-time:

Barring a ridiculous slump, Pujols should move into seventh place all by his lonesome before long. After that? Ken Griffey Jr. is currently in sixth, with 630 home runs. We'll see if Pujols can get there in 2018.
